This unit does not replace the existing unit. The wire plugs are different. Even though the description says it will fit my LG model number - very frustrating!!

This is the right item for our fridge, but it is louder than the OE ice maker

Original part number no longer available; once I was able to determine that this part number is in fact the descendant replacement part for the original part number, all went smoothly. A few notes: watch very carefully during the install to be certain that wires and wire bundles are properly routed. For example, the right side (as you face the installed icemaker) optical sensor is attached to the main icemaker body by a fairly thin isthmus of plastic, and is secured to the door insert by a single screw that goes through a hole in the sensor to an offset post. If the wire harness bundle is not carefully routed behind the body of the unit just above the plastic isthmus, the bundle will be trapped behind the unit just above the isthmus. When the screw that secures the sensor is tightened, the isthmus bends and (I think) will eventually break. In fact, that exact point of failure had failed in the unit this was replacing. So be sure that wires and bundles are positioned within, and actually remain within, their appropriate cutouts, recesses and races so as to prevent damage to wires and/or excessive loads on fasteners or structural plastic.

Sometimes just not sure of fixing it or replacing the whole refrigerator! My 12 YEAR OLD LG refrigerator ice maker broke, then it wouldn't stay cold.LG sent a guy out, who upgraded software and replaced the compressor for FREE!I replaced the ice maker, works great.Wife and I agree, hold on to the LG refrigerator until it breaks again... maybe in 12 years?

Be sure to remove the old unit before ordering and count the wires. Two different plugs for this style ice maker and even LG’s website lists the wrong compatibility info.

Old ice maker was inconsistent and would not work for weeks at a time. An hour to change out and the ice box is full once again.

Le connecteur n’était pas du même modèle. J’ai dû faire quelques modifications et le tout fonctionne à merveille.

The ice maker didn't fit - that was my fault because the photo of the part looked identical to my icemaker. It 1/2 inch wider

I was experiencing a big drop off in ice production. This is my second ice maker replacement for my fridge. It seems that I get about 5 years out of these before they die on me. Overall replacement is easy, a couple of screws and a plug to disconnect and your done, I did this in about 45 minutes which included pulling the fridge out to vacuum under it and clean the coils. There are you tube videos out there if you are unsure. just need a phillips head screw driver and some time. Once I replaced it, ice production shot up, so the old one was the obvious problem

We have a LG LFX25976ST somewhere between 5 to 10 years old. Somewhere between 1-2 years ago, it stopped making ice. I finally decided to order this part. The replacement took about 30 to 60 minutes since I was not familiar. Here is my suggestion:1. Unplug the power cord. Remove the ice bin2. Remove 4 screws that have metal color top. Two at the bottom on left and right side. One in the middle and one at the top. Do not remove the screws that were painted white. These attach the ice maker to the plastic back plate3. You are removing both the ice maker part and the plastic back plate that is attached to it.4. Disconnect the electrical connector. Again, you are removing both the icemaker part and the plastic back plate part.5. To remove the icemaker from the back plate you would have to remove 4 more screws that have white paint color on top. In the process, you would have to disconnect another electrical connector.6. Replace the icemaker part. It takes a bit of maneuver to get the big connector through the opening. You are now ready to put the whole thing back.7. Connect the electrical connector. Make sure everything is in place. Put the 4 metal top screws back and tighten them slightly8. Plug the power cord. Turn the icemaker switch back on.This worked for us. Work this work for you too.
