After purchasing several Kodiak carbide end mills they have become a favorite. The price is good for a quality American made end mill. They're sharp and cut cleanly. For best results it's very important to turn them at the speed recommended in a feeds and speeds chart or calculator.

Friend and i were building Ak47s... We needed something a little bit bigger than a 1/4 inch to drill out the barrel pin hole on the barrel only, not thru the front trunion. So we are using his drill press with a max rpm of 3100. Cutting a grove across the bottom of the barrel. A normal drill bit would walk away from the barrel and dig into the trunnion that was predrilled and result in ovaling the trunnion out and not removing enought metal from the barrel. Well I looked around and bought 2 of these. I slapped my ak47 into his drillpress vice and let it go. To our absolute astonishment it worked perfectly! Used lots of cutting oil and went very very slowely down on the drill press. I moved the vice a tad for a second pass and made the grove in the barrel as perfect as possible. After machining 2 nitrade barrels out the 1st bit had only lost the very corner of two of the flutes on the bit! Considering the Uhh creativity of this whole concept, I would have paid twice as much for the bits! As much as a misuse of these as we had they amazed us with durability. Im sure that the first bit will complete 4 ak builds before getting questionable. And remember that was at only 3100rpm on the drill press!

The quality seems to be great. The size is extremely short. I needed this to use in a drill press chuck. After doing so, I will have one full inch to use with my jig. I recommend getting a longer bit to get your chuck around with enough of a bite on it. I will not be using this anytime soon, but will keep it with the rest of the metal in my garage. I may be able to use it someday; just not today.

We use this on our Powermatic CNC machine for wood projects and this bit works through oak like butter! We have had several bits break over the months, but this has lasted the longest.
