This shelter tent was an excellent buy at an excellent price, great material. I can’t brag enough about this shelter tent and I haven’t even used it yet. I’m all set for camping in April and I can’t wait.

Over the last 10 years I have tried all sorts of tarps and rear hatch tents and every single one proved to be disappointing. When I saw a review on the Kelty Highroads Overlanding Shelter, I thought that might "Be the one!!"The first time that I set it up was a lil tricky. But it fulfilled all my expectations and so long as you guy it out, it has stood up to both strong winds and rains. Plus after that first time, set up is pretty easy and fast."As for almost perfect." It's a glorified tarp, NOT a tent and so bugs and other critters can still be an issue. But as a glorified tarp, it's the best that I have found and you really can't beat it.

Versatile piece of camping equipment, fits perfectly off the back of my camper van. Easy setup and take down, folds up small. The only negative is that it did leak slightly around the door zipper. Wish Kelty would fix this problem!

Just purchased. Trial set up.1. Easy to set up. 3 poles. 6 stakes. One person can set it up.2 adjustable pole stakes on the side. Clever idea. For private setting or full on hanging with friends during the rain.3. Very roomy. Someone around 6ft can stand up with out any problems.4. Works very well with my T@g camper.5. If you don’t like bugs. Maybe not for you. It is a shelter. Not a tent. It doesn’t have a floor.6. Has a loop on top interior. To hang a light, fan, or what ever your needs may be.Our first adventure is in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait to try it out.

Took me 10 minutes to set it up the first time and less the next. Loved the versatility of it being either a sun/wind shade or attached tent to my van. Basically doubled my protected camp space. Its got numerous options for staking the sides down which is great for variable terrain (rocky ground) or ventilating/screening. One of the coolest features they don't promote is it detaches in like 1 minute, pull forward, then just stake the whole thing down to cover gear, which in my case was kitchen set-up, cooler, chairs. Upon return, just back up to it, open the gate and secure it to the vehicle. In the interior volume is impressive - a family could also put a couple of sleeping cots in there along with the kitchen. Didn't know what to expect, but the poles are heavy duty and its well-built. Next time I'll throw in a tarp for a floor when conditions are either muddy or sandy.

This is easy to assemble by myself, gives you plenty of room, love the back door and window for privacy but also protection from the elements, the sides when extended and staked provides even more protection and room. I actually McGiver it and connected to my Gazelle tent giving me an ample vestibule where I can hang outside in mild rain and not get water in the tent when I open the door, that way my SUV is free to go and come as I please. The bag is roomy so you don’t have to fight it to get it back in. My only worry is that when you’re by yourself you drag the bottom to place it correctly and however little that is it might eventually wear out.UPDATEAs previously explained I mainly use this attached to my Gazelle tent to add a vestibule, well I left campground to get supplies and to my surprise even though I had absolutely no food a bear got curious enough to get inside, since they can’t open zippers (lol) my Kelty got destroyed by its weight, seems he stood on the walls and broke the poles, thankfully not finding any food it left my tent untouched. I like this so much I just had to accept the situation which was a first in 40 years of tent camping and went ahead and bought another one but now when I leave camp I’ll leave the door open so they can come in and out “inspecting” for the nonexistent food and leave without damage, see if that works since I mostly camp in bear country. Totally worth to replace specially when raining giving me a dry outdoor place to enjoy my coffee keeping me dry.

I wanted something for my teardrop camper for when its raining that I could put up myself and would have a decent change of holding up in wind gusts. I've used this a few times off the back of the teardrop/ kitchen galley and I like how versatile it is. Shade/ wind/ rain it has me covered. Doesn't provide a lot of space but I was only trying satisfy my needs of being able to cook when its raining / windy out. The sides go up or down so I can open everything up if I only just need protection from the top. Super easy to set up, after the first time I think it only took me less than 10 minutes to set up myself. Product quality feels well made and I like the system that Kelty uses for fastenings and the bag to put everything back in. All depends on your needs and how much space you want but if this type of item looks like it might work, I'd suggest it. Pretty cool concept.
