Wasn't as impressed as I expected to be. Nothing wrong with the quality, but as seen in attached picture, I am used to a larger faced paddle. This paddle seems to be made for a smaller person with smaller hands.I have not had it on water yet, but physics tells me that this paddle will not bite the water like I am used to.I will keep it for introducing others to Greenland paddles as its fit and finish are great. But I have my doubts it will fill my needs.UPDATED next day. Out on water with it now. Definitely a higher cadence paddle, but much lighter than the ones I make. Make no mistake, this paddle WILL propel you. I'm in 'the beast' and this skinny stick is moving it and me just fine. Very slicey paddle and performs like it should. updateing review to 5 stars.Three year Repurchase review: Whoa,,, Same dealer/seller/maker/whatever, but NOT the same paddle. Better surface finish, but flashing marks from the mold are prominent EVERYWHERE, including in the loom. Loom is one inch smaller than the original paddle I purchased (tighter, not as comfortable) and the blade shape is more faceted, not smoothly curved. Edges are obtuse, roughly 3mm radius and not smoothly radiused, those flashing marks are everywhere, and not uniform at all: some are near the surface, others stand proud from it. Along the loom is the worst, since that is where you hands are.Thats not to say I dislike the paddle, But it is NOT the same paddle I bought three years ago. Where that paddle was very loose in the connection, this one is tight, seemingly water tight as well. Pops like a cork when you break the paddle down. That is a plus as a rigid paddle makes rolls and sculling much easier and easier to feel what the blade is doing (without an annoying click when shifting direction or pressure)But that last paddle had very tight edges without flashing marks. It sliced into the water smoothly and efficiently. This one, 'punches' the water, splashing quite a bit except on slow cadance paddling. That splashing pulls air into the water and the blade doesn't 'grab' the same way. Even with a busted edge and degrading foam core, the old paddle is faster, quieter, and drier. Not much faster, but enough that it could be the deciding factor in a race: 4.6mph vs 4.2 for the new paddle. (and I will say, that may be due to that smaller loom area messing up my stroke,,,Only time will tell)I'm dropping this to four stars due to the finish issues, and design changes that seem to be due 'rapid production' vs quality products. But as an introductory Greenland paddle, the price puts in competitive territory for the other contenders (that aren't at all introductory level,,,,)

For the price for a carbon fiber this is an excellent deal. Unfortunately, the tolerances are not good and the paddle rattles a little bit when in use.I wasn't sure about it when I first put it together, but, as I used it, I realized that I held a well designed, if poorly executed, paddle. Smooth lines, comfortable loom (though a little bit short for my regular grip, but what do you expect from a paddle that's not custom carved?), no flutter even when I messed up my paddle angle. Oh, and did I mention that it's light? I paddled out with this paddle and switched back to my normal euro paddle (plastic and fiberglass) for the trip back. I was shocked at just how unnatural my faithful companion of hundreds of miles suddenly felt in my hands. I will update this if I figure out how to shim the ferrule to get rid of the annoying clicking.

Carbon layup looks great, no weird spots. The only issue is the connection. It is loose when twisted.I tried to help this movement by placing a cut finger from a rubber glove on the shaft. The added thickness adds the required shimming to stiffen up the paddle. The little bag is nice I guess but I don’t see the need. Paddles are carried in our cars or on our kayaks. Save money on the bag and improve the lookup.Totally worth it for the price. After messing with it, it’s just as solid at a $450 carbon Greenland paddle by other brands. Will report back when/if it fails.
