Not a hunting spear. It is not shaped to impale as a hunting spear would. It is a short spear primarily useful for defending against animals without actually having to hurt them (it hurts but leaves no damage). It is basically like having a knife at the end of a stick with a dull curve and a sharp edge. A toy for most but it was useful for myself getting attacked by animals in the forest every week.

I purchased the “Bowie Knife” tip spear. This spear is not a WMD! The Bowie blade provides 3 options: sharp edge for slicing, sharp tip for piercing, & blunt edge for impact/non-lethal. User must learn to employ this spear correctly in any given situation! User must recognize spear’s limitations & to employ the skills needed to exploit the spear’s strengths.To protect butt end of spear, suggest to purchase “Rubber Leg Tips”, 1 1/8 in., Ace Hardware PN; 51243. “Rubber Leg Tip” will prevent your hand from slipping off of the butt end of the spear!

I love it, I love how the shaft is fiber material not metal, ( my op) also I’m happy they give you a sheath for the blade, I have not tested it on a dummy or anything but the weight and handling feels light and durable all in one.
