Bite Valve Mouthpiece

I needed something quickly because my Nathan pack’s mouthpiece had holes (my bad…) and it was spewing water my entire run. So I took the clear mouth plastic bite piece off of this and swapped out the chewed up Nathan’s one, and it works perfectly! Let me try to be clear, you can’t replace the whole Nathan’s mouthpiece with this whole thing because the plastic part to insert into the tube is too big to fit the Nathan’s tube. But the clear plastic bite piece is an easy swap and that’s exactly what I needed.

Just needed the mouth piece, but for the price , I bought the whole set. I have 3 different sized hydration packs all using the same mouth piece so it was well with it.Easy to install and it’s just like OEM. The mouth pieces are more transparent than I’d like for appearance but the benefit is you can better see dirt or mildew when shining thru a flashlight, which is not possible with an solid color mouth piece.

I like the idea of have the value not resting on your shoulder strap but I found the mechanism to stop and start the water to be a little finicky. You have to make sure the valve is firmly closed or it will leak. Also for being a universal bite valve it was too large to my dakine water line and required some modification to the line.

I have used a lot of complicated bite valves -- notably the Nathan twist valves, as well as the simpler bite-only valves and sheathes. The complicated ones are too cumbersome to mess with on the trail, especially if you're running in 20 degrees and have gloves on. The simple ones drip and leak and are susceptible to freezing up in the cold, making you bite them harder and chew through the sheath more quickly. This simple on-off switch is a good compromise. It closes the valve securely in a way that's visibly easy to verify (you don't have to read "open" and "close" in plastic relief letters while running) and reduces dripping.

My bite valve had a tear in it from normal use so it was leaking water and this is a great product to fix that problem. My hydration pack works again with no leaks. I found just the actual bite valves on Amazon (Mamba bite valve replacement) that I will purchase in the future as they fit my hydration pack and they are cheaper for a pack of 3 of them so you may want to consider that product if you only need to replace the rubber seal and not the whole plastic valve.

I haven't actually put water in my camelback pack pack yet but so far I think the mouth piece will work just fine. The product came packaged very nicely and exactly as I ordered. Thank you!! I have an older SWISS back pack and I cant buy parts for it anymore so I am glad I was able to make yours work!

Arrived quickly, easy to switch out and was much easier to open the tube than a standard BITE valve.
