Best organic coffee I've had. Aroma is fantastic right out of the package! Used to drink Pete's till i couldn't find in organic. It's kinda pricey! This columbian coffee is so good nice color etc.

Great tasting coffee, and healthy. Organic and shade grown means no pesticides or other toxins; low acid, free of heavy metals and mold. (90% of commercial coffees contain mold.) Self- sustaining environment that protects and supports wildlife. Hand picked beans selected at optimum ripeness. Workers are paid a fair wage that improves their quality of living for their families and their villages. Single origin insures quality beans. Definitely worth the price to get a superior coffee, and to know you are supporting the local people who hand pick the beans; It is a win-win.

The Good Morning Blend is fabulous. Perfect way to enjoy the morning. Absolutely no bitterness. I didn't realize coffee could taste so good. This cost more than I historically spent, but I know the quality is great with it being organic, so I won't be wasting a pot. So I feel it's worth it.

I was skeptical to try this coffee, but was pleasantly surprised by the smooth, nice taste. My stomach was bothering me on other brands and decided to give this a shot. No more stomach issues with this coffee. Really happy that I gave it a try.

I love this coffee! It is sweet, low in acidity, and gentle on my sensitive stomach. It has a delightful flavour and fantastic aroma that fills the room and makes the whole experience even better.

I love the espresso blend. Great taste at an amazing price. Love that it’s pure and also that they sell it in 16oz bags. The only thing that could be improved would be always sending me the most recently roasted beans. Don’t get me wrong, they are fresh, it is just my preference to always be sent the very freshest batch. Sometimes I get a bag that is a bit older. It’s still good and fresh enough to use though. You’ll have to search really hard to find a better deal on very pure espresso at a really great price.

No longer able to drink my long standing dark roast brand due to heartburn or acid reflux, I started trying other brands marketed low acid. All were bitter or just not worth drinking. Drink 2 cups/day, grind beans fresh and adjusted the grind coarser if it was slightly bitter. It is perfect, tastes good and all acid issues gone! Very expensive in Canada at $68/ lb.

Today I received my first order of Java Planet Costa Rican dark roast, 3 weeks after it was roasted. I have been drinking Volcanica Sumatra Mandheling Reserve dark roast and love that but wanted to try another coffee that is very strong on environmental protection and fair trade. This Java Planet comes from LA Hacienda Astrud, where 90% of the land remains as a huge rain forest and the coffee trees are shaded as well by banana trees. Now ... the taste and getting there. Inseparable from a lovely odor when I opened the bag and poured all but my 8 oz cupful into an airtight vacuum container so that it will store well. Then ground with my conical burr grinder for my DeLonghi Alicia electric moka pot -- which I love and which is so much more consistent than my Bialetti classic. Added spring water (cold, but that is so controversial either hot or cold) and patted gently the ground coffee with a finger, not pressing but evening it out. Then screwed the pot top on and turned on its electricity. Three minutes later, my Costa Rico coffee was ready. Poured it in a 12 Oz glass and added with Zulay frother ($8) half and half froth to top the glass. Is it diluting the coffee too much to use a tablespoon of half and half instead of milk? I dont think so. This coffee is not at all overwhelmed. The taste comes through completely, just mellowed a little bit. I describe all this because maybe out there is some newcomer like me to quality coffee who will wonder just what I did to get such a perfect cup of coffee. The taste.... the chocolate note comes first, not as strong as Sumatra(or with Sumatra "pay attention" bold note) but inviting with a caramel touch following chocolate as the coffee slides over the roof of my mouth. And then another taste I can't describe but it is pleasant and unassuming. At the same time it is lovely as it lingers. After that comes the swallow, which invites the next sip. There is not the slightest bitterness, which sometimes can happen when a dark roast is ground too fine.Did I mention that this Costa Rican dark roast is low acid and low caffeine so there is unlikely to be any avid indigestion or coffee jitters? Since this coffee invites me to have more, that is also a plus. And it is sometimes misunderstood that dark roasts are less likely to create acid indigestion or caffeine jitters even though the taste is "strong." I can also feel good about the wildlife on 90% of the rainforest reserve that brought these coffee beans from farmers treated fairly. I am impressed by the environmental and fair trade conscientiousness of LA Hacienda Astrud, which created the preserve by donating its own land and has been recognized by UNESCO and Smithsonian.Three cheers for Java Planet for carrying a Costa Rico coffee that has it all! Clearly I will order again, probably going to the Java Planet website to do so.

Is this coffees quality and taste Inconsistent for anyone else? We buy the whole bean Colombia organic. The bags rotate between the BEST coffee we've ever had to the absolute worst. These bags are not cheap and when it's a great batch it's worth every penny but when it's a terrible batch we have to place a new order for a next day delivery just hoping it will be a different batch and we're out $22.00 every time because understandably Amazon doesn't provide exchanges or returns on food items so to be stuck with a terrible batch every *few deliveries adds up and it's really frustrating. We make it the same way same grind same everything everyday the only thing that changes is the batch/roast date. The December batch is just dreadful and smells like burnt cigarettes. The only thing I can think is someone's accidentally putting the darker roast in the Colombia roast bags sometimes or maybe the roasting time is inconsistent I honestly don’t know but I do hope the figure it out because when it's a good batch it's TRULY TRULY the best coffee you'll ever have with amazing taste, smell and so smooth with low acid. I’m going to stick with them a while longer with hopes they figure this out. But if this is happening to you too, I would contact the company directly. They might not be aware if Amazon doesn’t communicate it directly to Java.
