The kit is good - this is not necessarily an easy task.The ceramic transformer cores are very brittle. Other reviews complain of breakages and that would not surprise me.However, if you follow the instructions with a good kit, you can have quite a variety of custom transformers. It worked for me. However, It, no fault of the product, did not work for my design.

This is just a kit. This is not educational. There is less education that comes with this kit then a jerry springer episode. While the kit is nice to build a small transformer this is not something a kid or hobbyist will actually learn from. There is no formulas, no reasoning or explinations for what they tell you to do and what they do tell you is very limites. If you were looking for a gift for a kid thats learning electricity or trying to learn yourself this will not help it will only provide a bundle of usable materials.
