The following applies to the 6" iGaging 35-806A DRO. I think that this unit is an OK value. You won't confuse it with a Mitutoyo but the build quality is pretty good and it's 1/4 the cost. Some observations after installing on a PM 833TV milling machine qulll: 1) The instructions reference cutting the scale with a hacksaw. Didn't happen in my case because the stainless scale was tough and very hard. Milling it was hard even with carbide tooling! I finally cut it with an angle grinder and cleaned up the cut end. That worked fine. 2) Be prepared to create some hardware to. mount and connect to the quill. Your mileage may vary but I needed several posts, spacers and brackets. 3) Pay attention to which direction is positive reading. To my knowledge there is no way to change it from the display panel and it will make a difference in how you route your cable. 4) For me this DRO replaced a dial indicator (sort of). The big difference is that you don't have the same kind of visual indication when you are approaching your target depth if boring or drilling. The display updates fairly quickly but in a cold shop it's not instantaneous. I don't know how it's going to behave when warmer. The good news is that the scale on this unit is as long as the quill travel which was not the case with my indicator. 5) The features on the display are pretty much like a digital caliper with the addition of incremental capability. You can set an origin anywhere and it will persist after powering off and back on. Overall this seems a decent product. I will update if I find that changes are needed.

Slow readout. Not accurate. Auto shutoff after a couple minutes. Waste of money.

Bought this DRO for my router table so I know the exact height of the bid. Installation is not straight forward and self made brackets may be required to mount the DRO to your unit. Use and calibration is very easy and straight forward.

I used this as the crossslide axis on my atlas lathe. It has worked well, easy to mount and is at least as accurate as my Mitutoyo test indicators. The display timeout seems a little short but otherwise has worked very well.

Works great!! I mounted this item onto my lathe tailstock and works wonders. Speeds up drilling operations tremendously and the price of the item is very reasonable. Would recommend to any one!!

I put a full size DRO on my x and y axis and then realized I didn't have one for the cross slide. This jewel saved the day for me. It is accurate -- more so than my Grizzle G602 lathe can be -- and sized to fit. In use, the digital readout does lag behind the movement and that is annoying but I work around it. A full size DRO would have been in the way and too cumbersome. I was able to make this one fit using a 3D printed mount. (In fact, I printed all the mounts for my DROs rather than machine them as I do not have a mill yet.

Got 6" and 24" versions of this DRO for my lathe replacing some AccuRemote branded ones which did not work properly.GOOD:- Readout is sharp and large, visible from quite a distance.- Readouts can be stacked and mounted on a single arm. Very useful for a XYZ setup.- Tons of mounting options.ISSUES:- The ways/bars are magnetized to hell right out of the package. If you buy one of these make sure to also get a demagnetizer as the magnetization seems to interfere with correct readout, i.e. numbers jump around.- Readout refreshes about 2x per second which is a little slow.- The swing arm is plastic which means it will wobble with the slightest vibration.

These are great. The next thing to magnetic scale DROPRO setup for 1/6th the price. I have both. Display is much larger and easier to read than previous incarnations of igaging or accuremotes. And they come with a swing mount that you can stack them on!There is very little in the way of installation. Be creative. Take the time to study these videos ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lBXi3NCRz8 ). There are 4 on installing on a lathe and 4 or mill installation.BTW these scales can be cut. You can use a metal cutting band saw or a cut off blade in a die grinder.
