I have owned at least a half-dozen of these. They are all plastic. They install with 4 screws (not supplied). They will hold 10 whips, held by their shafts (not their grips). The middle opening is occupied by a plastic divider, and it will holdan eleventh whip, just not as securely as the other 10 locations. Eventually the plastic will lose its pliability and the holder will stop holding whips securely. In my experience in non climate-controlled tack rooms this takes around 2 years; the same for a horse trailer tack room. In a heated room they will last much longer. The wood holders with slots are a more elegant whip-holding solution, but at a greater cost.

Love this! I have a talent for losing anything I put down for more than 5 seconds. Including many whips! Not lost or misplaced a single one since getting this. It’s grippy enough to hold a lunge whip off the floor. Best purchase in ages!

By the way, the back side of this is open, so I discovered this HANGS quite nicely from an over the door /board hanging coat rack. Which is awfully convenient if you want to be able to move it around.

After watching 50 Shades of Grey and 9 1/2 Weeks, my wife and I just had to buy this whip holder for all the riding crops we "play" with.Okay, just kidding. Our daughter rides horses, and anybody who has a kid who rides will tell you ... there is no such thing as just one of anything. She now has an assortment of 4 or 5 crops, with more on her Amazon shopping list. I'm not sure how many different crops a rider needs to beat a horse into submission, but she obviously had to have a holder to keep them all organized. This one was perfect, with room to grow.
