I've been using the "original" bore snakes for years. I thought the "Viper" models would be better so I bought one for my 45-70. It was a "LITTLE" harder to pull through but I felt it did a better job. Accordingly, I bought two more - one for my 223 and one for my 300 Win Mag. Big mistake! These bore snakes are nearly impossible to pull through. I'm very afraid the "string" will break. Note: If you first pull one of the original bore snakes through and then SATURATE the Viper bore snake with oil or Hoppe's #9, you can pull it through. But that's not the point of a bore snake. A bore snake is to do a lick and a promise cleaning in the field. If the only cleaning you do is with a bore snake, you're not properly caring for your guns.

This is much easier to use than an aluminum rod style cleaning tool. I had used the conventional, no frills screw-together rod kit like you get off the shelf at Walmart for years on my CZ 452 bolt action and it was fine but I recently bought my daughter a Rugar 10-22 semi, and really struggled with the rod even though hers is a breakdown. Her gun gets really dirty fast and I wanted to keep on top of cleaning it but I was also worried about damaging the rifling because of how I was struggling with the .22 cal push rod. I didn’t think a traditional bore snake would clean well enough but I read that this one had the brass brushes and everything built into it and a lot of people seemed to like it, sure looked simple to use in the videos on YouTube. I ordered this as well as a steel cable multiple caliber kit that was recommended by a gunsmith. I received this bore snake first and tried it right away following the package directions and the dudes on YouTube. I was able to drop the lead line in and pull the full snake through with a little effort being required but I did not at all struggle with it. It was a Goldilocks fit for the Rugar. I was amazed how much gunk it cleaned out in just one pass! I use this thing all the time for both .22 rifles and love it so much I got the 12g shotgun version for my husband. I use this bore snake every time we go plinking in the backyard and it really seems to do as good a job as the cable pull kit with the separate brushes and patches. I haven’t found anything not to like about it yet.

Un producto muy bueno de Hoppes. Conviene añadirle un poco de aceite lubricante en la parte textil para facilitar su deslizamiento

Wow $6 for a Viper I’ll take 3 thank u! These are the best I have ripcords and other brands. These are the best. When new they need to be pulled slowly once pulled through once or twice they go through easier. Also I are suppose to put a bit of protectant on the very end so it costs the barrel and it works like a harm. Then right at the first copperBristle u put a cleaner on that. Honestly 2 pulls and my bore is gleaming like new with a nice film of oil on it! Makes cleaning so easy. And it does a better job than a patch or brush almost always short of copper fouling or something that almost never happens... awesome product I get one or two in every calibe I own. I purchased mine for a 6.5mm creed! U have two size options the 25 cal (.257”) or 7mm (.277”) .257 is closer but the .277 works that’s what I got. I was tight the first pull then it works awesome. I prefer it a tad larger because it really gets in the grooves with the extra pressure. U really can’t go wrong here these are $20 products in stores and there $6! At least my 270 one was

I bought this to run it through my 22-250. It seems a little too thick to fit. I can only mull it maybe through the first 5 inches of the barrel using all the stength i can muster up and that's being generous. I'm thinking if you want a snake to clean your .22, maybe grab one for a .17 cal. I'm sure that would fit perfect.
