I've used these for years. I only pull out a bore brush if my borescope tells me to. I keep them at home in the shop, and carry them to the range with a goo CLP solution. Love these guys, with buy again. By the way, they last years.

Skeptical when I bought this because I had never seen a product like this before. It cleans the barrel really well and takes a long process and makes it easy and short.

Do not buy this for a .17 HMR , it will not fit down the bore. Expensive Boresnake that doesn't do what they say it does. You can use it for a 22 but not a .17 Don't waste your money. The hassle of returning it makes it a complete fail.

I have these in 12 bore, .410 for shotguns and .22, 6.5mm and .308 rifle calibres. Although I have never had a problem with them, I have had a problem with pull through systems in a rifle. The pull bit broke and the through bit remained in the barrel, necessitating an expensive visit to the gunsmith. I don't think that that would happen with these though. They pack up small and are therefore ideal for cleaning the barrel should they become dirty while in the field or at the range.

I usually use a rod with a bore guide with all my rifles. This gets expensive and is more gear to carry. I like the simplicity of the BoreSnake, and a lot less gear to carry around. I also think that there is far less chance of damaging the rifling of a barrel with the BoreSnake. I bought 3 to use. One for JB bore cleaner, one for CLP, and one to run through as a finishing So far they have worked great My only concern that I have is the cord that is sewn to the BoreSnake. I hope it doesn't separate.

Having already owned one for my 12ga shotgun, I decided to try out the boresnake on my 25-06. I'm used to the old, manual way of playing with wipes and running the swabs in the bore for hours at a time, never really feeling like i got it clean enough. It was really hard to pull through the gun; so much so that I thout i was going to pull the rope off the boresnake. After my first pull, the bore was perfectly spotless! I put a little hoppe's elite on the front end to clean it like normal and was amazed at the amount of additional carbon I got out again. I'm never going back to e patches again and would highly recommend this for anyone who hates cleaning their rifle the old way.
