These are fantastic! I really missed having railing planters with my non-wooden deck and these are perfect for getting railing level baskets right where I wanted them! I used them in conjunction with two 24” iron planters I got on Amazon and despite our bizarrely high winds, they’ve stayed right where I put them. My parents discovered this brand and told me about them and I’m so glad!

Work really well on my TrexDex Deck. Solid and sturdy. One of the best parts for me was being able to build my own planter boxes to fit the hangers. Since they are adjustable, that allowed for some nice variances.

This product does exactly what I had hoped. It allowed me to install my flowerbox on my deck railing without inserting screws or damaging my wood railings. I could not be happier with the results. It is also important to note that when Amazon accidentally sent the wrong type of brackets, the HoldItMate CEO responded immediately to my email and then shipped out the correct brackets to me the same day. It is so refreshing to find a company that provides both an excellent product and excellent customer service!

I used to have flower boxes that mounted to the top of the rail on the deck. They were old and ratty so I was looking for replacements. What a pleasure to find these Hold It Mates! Could not be easier to install. Practically invisible from the deck side and can leave them in place for the winter, minus the plastic flower boxes. These make the flowers look so classy, no containers to block the view. The Hold It Mate dog dish holder also perfectly holds a 10" round flower pot.

Absolutely incredible product! I researched this intensely so don’t waste your time doing double work. This is one of those things that you get what you pay for. And it was worth every penny. I bought slightly cheaper ones a year ago and they warped, bent, rusted and couldn’t hold diddly. Never mind you had to put screws through your woodwork and vinyl railings. I wish I could figure out how to post my pictures. I had made my own planter boxes and those alone were extremely heavy. After you put in the dirt the flowers the water, I am probably pushing 35 to 45 pounds on these planters. Didn’t even droop a smidgion. I wish I could give it a 10 star rating! Plus the description in their marketing is impressive. Very detailed and very thorough.DianeFredrick MD

The works exactly as advertised. It is engineered and made well from nicely powder-coated steel, though some of the hardware (screws, etc.) are galvanized/nickel-plated. Since this type of thing is likely to be used outside 99% of the time, maybe stainless hardware would be better than the galvanized stuff. Anyhow, I installed this system on the steel balusters of a Trex-type deck. Installation was simple and took just a few minutes. I strongly recommend reading the simple and clear instructions before executing the job to facilitate the process. Mounted, the bracket is unobtrusive and basically invisible once a planter is in place. I put a 30" plastic planter on the bracket, and the adjustable clamps hold it very firmly in place. The system has held up to winds approaching 60 mph during thunderstorms, and the clamps haven't required readjustment or re-tightening. My only gripe is the cost. These things are relatively expensive, given the quantity of material involved. But, to be honest, it works damn well, and in my case, the dimensions of the Trex top rail defied the use of any rail-mounted planter- I tried several different designs, and they all got blown off the rail during storms. The 12'+ drop didn't do any favors for the plants! If I had purchased the Hold-It-Mate 20" Planter Box Bracket Set and Mounting Rail in the first place, I'd probably have saved a lot of money, frustration, and inconvenience. Recommended!

I received and installed the HoldItMate 32" bird feeder arm and loved it, so I ordered this Universal Box Bracket Set and Mounting Rail to put up a 24" planter on my composite deck. My deck railing is a rounded aluminum and the spindles are 7/16" wide, so putting up hooks that mount over the railings isn't feasible. I needed something that would work with the spindles. This works very well. The mounting instructions are very simple to follow, but I have 5 things to add, based on my experience putting up 3 of these systems:1) Before you stand over the railings, insert the screws and tighten them to just a bit wider than your spindles.2) Insert the black plastic plug (it isn't mentioned in the instructions, but it comes with all the kits) into the large hole. This keeps the carriage bolt from sliding out that hole while you're trying to position the long rail and the mount.3) Position the rail where you want it - inside or outside of your deck and turn the mount 90 degrees (it will be swinging freely) so that it passes between the 2 spindles you want to use.4) Swing the mount back and use that Allen wrench to lightly tighten the mount to the rail. Repeat for the other end of the rail.5) Adjust where you want the rail - up or down - and use a level to make sure that the rail is level. You'll be putting brackets on that rail and you want it level! You can use the level on the mounts, but that's just aesthetics. Now go ahead and tighten firmly!I positioned the railing so that my planter box is just underneath the lip of the deck railing. Then I pulled the brackets to hug the bottom of the planter tightly and tightened the thumbscrews. This provides a bit more support for the high wind gusts we get around here. It's not too tight - I can still lift off the planter box to put it under cover when severe storms are predicted.I found that the brackets don't snap on to the rail as they did for my 32" feeder pole - they tend to slide on the rail rather more than I would like. The weight of the planter box does keep them from sliding side-to-side.
