Product Description

These hanger bolts are headless bolts designed to hang materials from wooden structures, walls or overhead. One half has a lag thread wood screw with a pointed tip, and the other half has standard machine thread with a blunt tip. Commonly used to hang wiring and ceiling hooks, the assembly is complete when the lag end is screwed into a pre-drilled hole.

I used the driver that couples to a drill motor to drive these hanger bolts. They all failed this way as the machine threads are too soft for the driver. Had to double nut and drive manually to salvage them. Manufacturer needs to improve thread hardness and durability.

These hanger bolts worked great on a midcentury chair I repaired. The previous hanger bolt began to bend anytime someone sat in the chair. This was a strong and easy to use replacement.

I used the associated driver to install these into the end grain of a pine 2x4 using a battery drill (not a hammer drill). Hole size was 7/32 and I used bees wax (scrape the wood end of the screw across the wax block) before driving. They went in with no issue and are holding well in the hole.
