This is great for the price. I got it as a backup and it already came in handy when the drummer forgot his (because, he's a freaking drummer). I don't know how much abuse it can take, but so far, so good.

IMPORTANT This clutch is for 6mm pull rods. If you have an 8mm pull rod, like on a DW stand, it will not fit.It fits my inexpensive Yamaha stand (6mm rod) but not my DW 5000 two leg stand (8mm pull rod).That said, it's got two 1/2" foam pads. The exposed threaded portion of the clutch will come in contact with your cymbals so you'll get an enlarged hole if you don't use a plastic/rubber insert (not included).The entire clutch is short, 2 1/8" total height. It's a good spare to keep in your cymbal bag for backup. Keep track of the factory clutch that came with your stand, you heard it here first. This is a good budget-friendly replacement to fit your 6mm pull rod.

My old hi-hat clutch was shot, but I've been putting up with it for years. I saw this Soundacture replacement and just had to get it. So much better! My hi-0hats stay in place, at the angle I set, and firmly closes the hats for that nice snap (can't type the sound it makes, might be mistaken as bad word) sound when together. You know the sound I mean. Opens and closes with nice action, easy to install. Should have gotten this a long time ago.

For something as small and seemingly insignificant as a high hat clutch, having one fail on you mid performance is a really big deal. That's why is always good to have another clutch ready to go in the event of your main one either coming loose, or stripping out where you tighten the clutch to the hat post. (something that has happened to me!)This one will do the trick in a pinch. But a big drawback is the tiny tension wingnut screw. It's entirely too small. You want a big area to grab onto and loosen tighten, because chances are you'll also have a stick in your hand when doing so. I suppose you could swap out the stock screw with another one, but at that point you may as well just get an entire clutch assembly with a bigger adjusting screw. This one will stay in my emergency parts bag. But hopefully I won't need it.

These are usually $10-$20 and are essential for a hi hat stand in order to be able to open and close the hi hats. I needed a couple and this works just fine. 4 stars.
