these dies are decent quality and priced very well. Older machines before the early 1900's used whatever threads they wanted as pitches hadn't been standardized yet. If you need to make a few odd screws with special shaped heads, these dies work very well in soft steel or brass. typical finish of off shore tools, but adjustable so you can fit the thread to the item.

I bought an 8-36 die. It was advertised as 13/16" OD, so I bought a corresponding die holder to go with it. However it is 1" diameter. Now I have to buy another die holder to be able to use it.
