Heil PR 781 is a professional quality dynamic cardioid microphone for amateur radio that is specifically designed for use with most makes of Elite tranceivers of Kenwood, Yaesu, Ten Tec and iCOM. This is a truly remarkable dynamic microphone. Heil engineers were requested by ICOM to develop a very special microphone package for their new iC 7800 radio. They didn't want just a microphone; they wanted a SUPER microphone for a super radio. The Heil PR 780 was born. The PR 781 is an improvement on the popular PR 780. The PR 781 is a beautiful performer into just about any microphone input, such as TS 870, 950, Pro 1, 2, 3, Yaesu Mv 5, MP, 2000 and 9000. Using one of the dynamic elements from the Heil broadcast division, the PR 781 offers beautiful wide frequency response while keeping that traditional Heil Sound articulation of the speech pattern something ALL microphones seem to lack and that has been the mainstay of the Heil Sound line up. It comes with a SSM-BC10 Microphone Suspension Shockmount from Auray is designed to keep your front-address microphone free from vibrations and noise that can often affect broadcast and voiceover applications. Plus an Auray BAI-2X is a two-section broadcast arm with internal springs and an integrated XLR cable. This versatile and sturdy broadcast arm is great for studio as well as home use. It's ideal for broadcast, voiceover, and podcasts.

This microphone is fantastic. The included boom is perfect for my application.I've received over a dozen complements on how loud and clear my audio is since I began using this microphone. Sure, I've gotten countless 5/9 or even 7/9 +20 reports using the stock microphone, but seldomly has anybody taken the time to point out the quality of the audio they are receiving.I adjusted the parametric eq settings of my radio while wearing headphones. It took less than five minutes to reach the desired sound. BTW, There are dozens of videos on eq settings for this microphone. Take my advice and simply use headphones to hear yourself as you customize your settings.

That is my second PR-781, which I use for amateur radio. Great mic, love it. The arm/stand included is a mixed bag. The suspension for the mike is good; the arm is sturdy and tight. the biggest problem disqualifying the arm from Auray is the table mount - the mount is almost good, but for some reason Auray uses a plastic insert/collar to match the arm end to base opening. This collar is from some plastic, and breaks/falls apart under regular use. First collar survived 3 months, and was replaced by Auray under warranty. The replacement is falling apart after another 9 months. So, it is unacceptable - and I do not understand why Auray is using such flakey design. None of the replacement table mounts uses the plastic collar/insert as a matching device - and it makes decent economy arm a total failure. Sorry, look for better arm - Heil, Rode PSA 1/PSA1+, but do not use this arm - it will get wobbly in no time when the plastic cracks and shutters, no longer holding the mic stable. Heil Mic is fantastic, stand is crappy. Be warned.

Whole package worked great. Had to set parametric equalizer to reduce low frequencies and limit high frequencies for a 300-2800htz voice bandwidth. Sound reports are positive.
