A solar charge controller is an essential component of your photovoltaic (PV) system. The controller maintains the life of the battery by protecting it from overcharging by limiting current flowing into the batteries from your solar array.

I upgraded my controller to match my new Lithium battery. The unit gives the deeper charge which increased the overall energy storage . Very easy to install too.

I've gone totally solar on my No Bo. This was the start. I'm all in lithium and this hasn't let me down.

Finally had a chance to install. Amazon you failed us. This was a rebuilt. It has power, it is charging battery but the screen is toast. Amazon support, please feel free to contact me as you have given no warranty, just return deadline. This product is defective and i should be able to replace with no cost.

Works well but just a hair tighter fit than first gen regulator. My original stopped showing the numbers so I ordered a replacement. Replacement was a smaller unit and not as pictured or described so I returned it. Re-ordered and received the correct unit the second time. Well this unit is nicer. Backlit and Bluetooth as well. No issues with the so far. I’ve read that within the week issues may occur. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This GP-PWM-30-UL replaced my old GP-PWM30 controller. The description as of this writing for this new unit states it is a "Blue Tooth" It is not. The Blue Tooth enabled Controller is available elsewhere at a much higher price and a different part number. I did not want Blue Tooth so this was good for me.The newer model has some nice features, back-lit screen, USB port, connections for two batteries and an inverter interface. The operation buttons are soft touch and much more intuitive than before.I had to enlarge the mounting cut out hole by 1/4" for the new controller.Be sure to label the wiring before removal of the original controller, the order they are attached is a little different for this new unit. The battery connections are on top and the solar wire connections are next in line. The original was the other way. Also this controller has connections for a second battery. Also be sure to disconnect your batteries and either unplug or cover your solar panels prior to working on the system to avoid shorting anything out.

Great Product. Looks good, works well, easy to understand. I found the battery voltage read lower than the true battery voltage at first. I read the manual and it said to measure the voltage at the terminals and the battery and compare them and some mumbo jumbo about sometimes it looks wrong but it's really right. I also found that it was right when there was no charge current but wrong when it had 27A flowing. Eventually I figured out that I had done too good a job of installing it. I put short fat wires between the unit and the battery which I thought was doing the right thing. It seems that the GP-PWM-30 was too smart for me and expected me to use longer thinner cables. I tried that and found the unit over reading the battery voltage with high current. From there I was able to tune the wiring impedance to give me the correct battery voltage all the time. It's a clever feature that works well, but it wold have been nice to have it documented in the installation section of the manual. By the way the right impedance between the GP-PWM-30 and the battery seems to be a total of about 1.5 milliohms or 0.75 milliohms for each wire.

To upgrade an existing solar system in my 10-year old AS trailer, I purchased this GP-PWM-30 Solar Regulator to replace an older technology Go Power controller, in conjunction with converting to AGM batteries, and a new 4-stage converter. The main advantage is the 4-stage charging system, plus it has a "boost" phase for "topping off" the batteries. It also has the battery charge "per cent" shown - both digitally and graphically, in addition to the battery voltage and charging amperage digital readings of the old controller. Installation was relatively simple - remove the old unit and connect the wires to the respective terminals. The slightly larger rear portion of the unit required enlarging the wall cutout, but the screw holes for the faceplate aligned with the original. After the first day, with a "boost", the new batteries showed a 100% charge - with only solar being used to charge the batteries.Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised to find this company still in business with all the changes which have occurred within the solar industry. It may be a bit more expensive than other options, but it offered the features needed for my system.
