This is worth the price. As everyone else has already said, and as is clearly written in the instructions, it will take practice. If the cut line isn't perfectly even, it will break, if the cut line is deeper in some places than others, it seems to break, if you move the bottle too quickly and jerk it as you switch hands, it will break. . .there are a dozen things to do wrong. That being said, it's an art and will take some practice which isn't a bad thing. It is a pretty standard design for bottle cutters and performs lie the others. It comes with glass sandpaper to remove any jagged edges you may end up with. It comes with gloves so you won't cut yourself as you're accidentally breaking class in your kitchen. I like arts and crafts and have had a lot of fun with this. I got some light fixture bits to turn wine bottles into lights. That light kit will not get nearly the glowing review this cutter did so I have no pictures.

So in theory this seems like it should work fine. It scored our wine bottle but when we followed the directions to use hot and cold water one after the other, it just wouldn’t come apart. I did read the other reviews and tried to be patient, so we tried scoring it again, this time with a lot more pressure. Then did the hot/cold water plunges and still, no luck. I haven’t given up yet, but I am discouraged.

I’ve been wanting one of these for awhile. I feel like this is nice for beginners but I’m also hunting tutorials since I didn’t get it right the 1st time.I read that I need better oil and have plenty of wine bottles to mess around withWould recommend

In general this item works well once you learn how to use it, even with the instructions its trial and error for first time users such as myself as such I did loose one bottle I really wanted to use due to the cutter being at a slight angle from out of the box it caused the bottle to corkscrew slightly upwards making an uneven cut and thus destroying the bottle. This was fixed by applying pressure not only downward but against the backing. It was uncomfortable at first to do so as I was worried I would break the bottle just by pressing and have a mess to clean up for face getting cut but it turned out just fine. All in all I would suggest this product as a fun crafts and if you have old bottles laying around or see some at a thrift store you'd like to turn into a glass.

This kit is awesome for beginners like myself. It has everything you need to start cutting all you need is some patience. There is a learning curve for this...it will take you a few tries before you start getting the perfect cuts. It took me about 3 tries, before I stopped getting really jagged edges. I also make sure I have a good glass cutting oil, and after I score the bottle, I have a tub of hot water and a tub of cold water. I just put it in hot water, let it set for a few minutes, then to the cold water. I usually get nice clean cuts.

I couldn't get this to work. I tried five times and gave up. Folks on YouTube make it look so easy, but it's not. While I didn't subtract any stars for that, the reason I did subtract stars is because the cutting wheel isn't adjustable enough. I was trying to cut bottles that had a curve to them and I couldn't get the angle right. The wheel can be adjusted up/down, but cannot be rotated left/right to get a better approach on a curved bottle. I'm sure with practice, you could get better results, but I didn't have enough bottles to practice, so I'm going to get a glass/ceramic grinding wheel instead.
