Helps me keep the beat when I play my music

Slimline cajon. Cool in theory. Travel size...super. The blue aesthetic and the travel case (with the orange piping) shows they cut no corners. The "snare" sound - very nice touch. Here's the thing...and maybe, I don't know, just maybe its because I don't play it enough...or something...but I swear the cardboard box it came in is about 100x more resonant. And I think I got about 8x the tones beating on the box. For that I say its a low value. Invest a little more in a full size cajon. I mean I can't even figure out where you're supposed to place this thing. Its slick as a gravy sandwich and slides off your lap - if you're holding it between your legs, you've got to be a gymnast. Maybe others have had more luck. Or maybe its just a piece of hollow wood (which is just a little nicer than a piece of hollow cardboard). Super polished, don't get me wrong. But you can smooth out a rock, put a little paint on it...its still gonna be a rock.

So, this thing is like, a pocket cajon. Which does mean the sound suffers. It's not going to fill the room or rattle your bones, but it's a cool little sound. You get a traditional tom sort of sound as well as a snare, so that's nice. I do like the blue semi-3D finish, and the logo on the front is cool, but they put this hideous amount of print on the back (see photo). It kind of ruins the aesthetic. Tuning the snare is relatively simple, but the finish around the bolt is a bit rough, fat fingers will get you rubbed raw. The carrying case is meh, not particularly padded, which is about all you need it for, it's basically a handheld instrument. I suppose you can keep the tuning wrench in the pocket so you don't lose it. It's a cool option to have, or just to practice on without disturbing your neighbors, or even roomates.

Compact and super portable, this awesome little cajon will fit in a standard sized backpack easily - now you can take your cajon camping, to the beach, on a plane, wherever! It uses 4 guitar strings for the snare sound, which can be tightened/loosened using a hex key (however, it should be noted that the hex key included with mine is not the correct size... it is too small, and WILL slip - I have opted to not use it until I can get into my storage to find an appropriate key). I prefer the timbre of actual snare wire on cajons, but the guitar strings provide an adequate snare quality. There are a ton of tones you can get out of this little cajon - it is very sensitive to how you hold it between your legs and play it. Placing it on your lap will provide a completely different bass tone compared to playing it cradled between your knees. Unfortunately, the faceplate is glued to the body, so there is no tuning or adjustment available in that regard, but that may be asking too much of such an inexpensive instrument.Speaking in relation to price, the build quality is decent and the value is excellent for the cost. The finish however is a bit middling, but acceptable for an instrument that cost less than 100 dollars and is meant to be thrown in a backpack and literally beaten. I love the choice of quilted maple for the front and back; the blue is very pleasant - maybe in the future they will offer other colors, like Green to go with the Gecko branding, or Red to match their Mascot's eye color. The only major complaint I have is that because the faceplate is glued on, I can live without "tuning" the faceplate but not being able to access the snare strings for repair/replacement bothers me; but again, at this price point that may be asking too much. That said, despite not being adjustable/repairable I believe this cajon will still last for many years of playing.I'm stoked to have a cajon I can easily take camping - if you travel or are tight on living space (tiny home, trailers, RVs, van life, etc) this cajon is an excellent option! Highly recommend if you're interested in getting a *more* portable cajon!

My whole family absolutely loves this Gecko Cajon. It's made well, with smooth, thick wood that feels durable, and it's nice to look at. The blue color is very popular with my kids. It's easy and fun to play. Both sides make distinct sounds, as do different areas on each side as you strike them. It's light and sits well on both kid and adult laps. The bag is convenient, sized perfectly for the Cajon, and comfortable to carry by shoulder or hand. The material looks and feels durable, and the zippers glide smoothly and flawlessly. In addition to the larger internal pocket for the instrument, it has an external zipper pocket to hold the manual and adjustment tool.Everyone had a ton of fun playing it, and we hope to get better at it with enough practice. Either way, it will certainly get plenty of use.

This Cajon looks very nice looking and well made. I love the color of it and the fact that it comes with equally cool looking bag. The Cajon plays very well and it does it in a small form factor. I really want a full size set of congas, but I don't have room for them. This is nice to have when I am jamming in my garage or when I go out to a club and play along with the DJ or Band. You can take this pretty much anywhere since there it is so small and portable which is the #1 reason you would get this. It does really sound great and at the price it is a good value. I really recommend this for any level of player.Hope this was helpful!
