I had moved into a new place and didn't realize the garbage disposal was not working. I order this to see if I could save time and money by not contacting a plumber. To my surprise this fixed the issue within a minute or two.

My kitchen sink garbage disposal would make a humming noise and not move when switched on. This wrench fits perfect in the hole underneath the disposal. It took a few heavy pushes on the other end of the wrench (with the disposal turned off) to get the wrench to turn just a bit. That freed things up so the disposal works again.Any 1/4" hex wrench will do this job but if you can't find one, this one will do the trick.

I had been struggling with a garbage disposal that would hum and not properly drain. I would clear it and it wouldn’t take long before it would clog up again. I finally decided to do a little homework after I saw that my p pipe was nice and clear. That homework lead me to Amazon to look for a garbage disposal wrench. All along, here was the answer. It took a few nudges and boom, I felt movement and heard water clearing. No need to call a plumber or get a new garbage disposal!!

Our garbage disposal was jammed and made an ugly-sounding hum. After unplugging it, I tried to shift the blades with a sturdy wooden broom handle to no avail. I tried one of the purpose built metal tools that you insert into the mouth of the disposal. That didn't work (it would slip and failed to move the blades). I nearly called the plumber, but decided to give this a try first. It worked and saved $100-$150.Preparations: watch an instructional video (or three) for reference. Bring a pillow or towel (for your knees or back), a flashlight, duct tape, and a choice of snacks.1. Unplug your garbage disposal (yes, it's a hassle, but safety first. A video warned of the possibility that the garbage disposal could start, which could injure your hand or launch the tool at your face).2. Use the towel or pillow to cushion your knees or back.3. Use the flashlight to locate the recessed socket. I mistakenly assumed I could find it by feel, but the odd angle of the handle and deep recess made it tricky without looking directly at it.4. Once securely in place, rock the tool back and forth a bit, gently at first. I had to put some effort in it before I felt any give.4. Remove the tool, plug the garbage disposal back in, and give it a try.You may need to try more than once. I didn't want to risk breaking anything, so I went easy on it the first time and it didn't work. Unplugged and tried again. I put more muscle into it the second time and that cleared the jam (the tool moved more freely).5. Use the duct tape to affix the tool next to the garbage disposal so you don't lose. And if you ever need it again, it will be conveniently located. (Probably best not to tape it to the side of the disposal itself. I taped it to inside wall under the sink)6. Enjoy your snack and/or beverage for a job well done.

When my garbarge disposal stopped working a few weeks ago, I was on the verge of calling a plumber. Given the labor shortages, who knows how much that would have costed or how much time it would have taken to get someone out here? I'm glad I did an Internet search on how to fix a garbage disposal and learned about this hex wrench. It took me about 10 minutes to get a feel for the tool and to get the right leverage, but now my garbage disposal works. Yay!

If I reviewed everything I purchased off Amazon, it would become like a second job, but the effectiveness of this tool deserves five stars and a mention. Simple, effective, easy to use, and slots easily to the disposal. Saved me the hassle of disconnecting the unit from the sink to unjam it the hard way.
