Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad Cooling Towel
If the weather is hot, a Chilly Pad Cooling Towel is the answer! It’s ideal for any hot, strenuous activity, from team sports and lawn care to a killer workout in the gym. Just keep it nearby for a quick cool down. The Chilly Pad Cooling Towel is made from a hyper-evaporative material that retains water while remaining dry to the touch. When wet, these cooling towels begin to evaporate and cool, providing cool, soft comfort to the user. When it stops cooling, simply re-wet it in hot or cold water and wring it out, within minutes, it's cool again.
How does it work?
The Chilly Pad material is highly absorbent, (like a sponge) and can absorb up to 8 times its weight in water. Once wet, the towel produces a cooling affect with the help of simple evaporation. As long as the towel is wet, exposed to the air, and allowed to "breath"... the Chilly Pad will evaporate... and cool.
How do I care for my Chilly Pad?
Once it is removed from the plastic packaging, wet the towel thoroughly, wring out any excess water, and allow the towel to begin evaporating. If the towel becomes soiled or dirty, machine or hand wash with standard clothing detergent and rinse completely. Store the towel in its original storage tube, in a plastic bag or hang it up and store it dry.
What if my Chilly Pad starts to smell?
If the towel has been stored damp and develops mildew or an odor, add 1 tablespoon bleach to 1 gallon of warm water and allow the towel to soak for an hour or two. The towel can now be washed in the washing machine to remove any residual stains. Be sure to always wash the towel before storing.
Can I put it in the refrigerator?
Yes to the refrigerator... but no for the freezer. Placing it in the freezer will cause the towel to become brittle. However, placing the towel in a plastic bag and popping it in the fridge is no problem!
How long will the Towels last?
With proper care and storage, the towels will last, and continue to provide evaporative cooling for several years.
Can I cut my Towel?
Sure! No problem. Each towel has an internal mesh reinforcing material that will allow you to cut it into any shape that fits your needs.
Can I wear it under my clothes?
We don't recommend it. In order to evaporate effectively, the towels should be allowed to breath, and be exposed to air when in use.
Is the Chilly Pad recyclable?
Yes... In fact... the Organic nature of the material allows that the towel (when tattered, torn, and ready to throw away) can actually be ground up, and blended with soil to help dry soil retain moisture. It is completely inert, and will slowly decompose... and become a part of the environment.

I hesitated to buy these because of some negative reviews that these cooling towels were no better than wetting a hand towel. However, my handyman swears by them. I am so glad I tried them. These towels were a lifesaver. This week, we had a record-breaking heatwave, and I was doing volunteer work outside. The temperatures ranged between 107-116! By drinking lots of water and using these cooling towels, I was surprised that I tolerated the heat. On one of the days, I forgot to put a towel around my neck. I started sweating a lot and feeling a bit queasy. I then realized I didn't have my towel, ran and got it, and cooled down immediately. I highly recommend these towels if you must work out in the heat! They work great. Just make sure to re-wet them when they start drying out.

I love these. They keep you cool on a hot day and don’t get your clothes or hair wet. They dry a bit stiffly but once you wet it again it goes back to normal.If you forget to bring it (which I’ve done way too many times) they can also cool you off once you’re back home.We used these years ago at Disney in the Summer and they helped us to manage the heat.This time I bought them for my Staff and we use them regularly

We wear these around our necks during the heat of summer, while working on our farm. I received them. Put one in my bathroom sink with a couple of drops of hand soap…. Let them soak up some water… then open them up when wet. Then I rinsed them out under cold water to get the soap off….wring them out a bit…. Put around neck and go outside to feed the critters. They help. Would recommend. Just make sure to get them wet before unrolling them. Do not use Hot water. I keep it in a baggie of water in refrigerator…so I can grab it quickly, wring it out, put around my neck. After using it a few times, I rinse it out in my bathroom sink with a few drops of shampoo or hand soap..rinse it out and hang it up to dry in the bathroom…or put it back in a baggie of water in my refrigerator again. But Not in freezer. These things help me from heat stroke in the FL summer when outside. Can rinse with cold water after they stop working in a couple of hours.

I have the large one too but I like to keep these in my purse for emergencies. The large one lasts longer but this size is more portable.

I have a heat intolerance and this little water, absorbing neck scarf works wonders for me, lowering my body temperature buy something like 10° when I wear it around my neck under a shirt.

They don’t keep the water as long as the large size but still do a much better job then other cooler towels.Took them to Disney for my kids, helped everyone stay cool and didn’t take up too much space when not being used.

Several years ago my mother bought some cooling wrist wraps...and I loved them! They make those unbearable hot summer days working outside bearable. But after a few years I had worn them pretty thin and needed new ones but had no idea of who made them (since my mom had passed and couldn't ask her anything). I bought several from other brands but none of them were any good. I was worried they didn't make them any longer. Until a friend told me about the ones she gets. And they were the same as mine!! Except hers was a neck wrap. So I bought some, cut them in half,sewed some velcro on the ends and made new wrist wraps. So if Ur looking for a cooling wrap, this is what U want. And they're very durable and super comfortable. I love em. I would and have recommended these to anyone looking to stay cool when it's hot.

I got the Chilly Pad and these to see which one works better(or...worst case use both) and I have to say I like the larger Chilly Pad much better. This is the same fabric and works the same way the Chilly Pad does...meaning you wet it, place it on your neck, head, face, wrists to keep cool. I think this one is just too narrow to provide as much of an effect as the Chilly Pad does. Being that this one is narrow but same length as a Chilly Pad...it reaches the same as far as draping around the back of my neck, but I think since you only get 1 layer of fabric when you place it on your neck, the fabric warms too easily from your body heat and doesn't provide as much of a cooling effect. Where the Chilly Pad is wide and you have to bunch it up when you place it on your neck and when you turn it every 10 to 15 min....it is farily easy to keep the refreshing cooling effect for pretty much the whole time you're wearing it. These smaller ones (Chilly Mini)would be good for little ones or maybe when you're feeling under the weather and can keep your head feeling cool. But, for me there was a marked difference & reduction in the cooling effect of this size verses the Chilly Pad size. Still a fantastic product though.

Small and easy to pack, do get cool when water added and "flapped" a bit."Cool" and "cold" are not the same, however, and while I bought each person of our 6 person party one of these for our 9 days of Orlando theme parks in the summer, they didn't get much use.They are small, a mild relief to the heat at best. My opinion - a gimmick.

I actually got the "mini" which was a 6 pack of minis which are thinner but still quite long. I love wearing them while hiking as they don't drip, and can be tucked under your top.
