This lock had been great. Feels extremely heavy yet folds easily and maneuvers around poles and locks easily.

It was difficult choosing a great quality bike lock but after reading and watching several reviews, i decided on the Gold Foldylock for my new Ebike.. It's well worth the investment, i don't worry so much about leaving my locked up bike while shopping. If it was for hours and hours while on a hike for example, i would be nervous. This lock unlocks and locks very easily. My wife has different brand and hers is more finicky. This Gold Foldylock is 5 stars.

I go back and forth between locks, usually preferring a U-lock for the peace of mind. However, seeing how quickly an angle grinder with cutoff wheel gets through a typical U-lock, (even Kryptonite) I decided compactness and ease of carry is at least as important as being tough to crack. This one is remarkably heavier-duty than the no-name Chinese folding locks we can also find here for 1/4 the money, but one can see where the money went. It's thicker and the exposed rivets are rounded and polished. It's going to be impossible to drill these out. It has enough links so that it won't hold still for a prybar attack either. If you have a higher value bike but don't want to carry a U-lock this is the ticket. The included case doesn't rattle and the mounting holes are spaced for standard water bottle bosses on bikes. I use this on my $2k eBike.

Going on year three with this foldilock. Read about it first, decided it was the right balance of security for me.Really love the key lock which is a little different and less likely to be picked. Fits so easily on bike, folds compact into it's holder, hard to tell it's even there, I get comments on how cool it is. Make sure to check that the holder is tight enough every now and then. I once hit a pothole and the whole damn thing flew off. Not a big deal that one time, but depending on what you're doing if it gets loose on you and you take lots of big shakes it could be a thing. It is noticeably heavy but manageable. I carry my bike just the same even with it mounted. Can wrap around wide items for locking. Pay attention to tips online on how to use it safely and decrease opportunities for people to compromise it. A popular tester on YouTube put it through a lot and it performed quite well.

I’ve had it for over a year. Heavy duty lock that works well in a lot of situations that u locks can’t. It is heavy, which I don’t mind. The bend points are susceptible to rain. I had it on top of my car then rode with it on my bike in the folded up position and had to use wd-40 to free it up the following day. That bend gives some resistance but still works.

Although a thick chain lock or U-lock might offer slightly higher security, this lock is probably the most secure folding lock currently available. I went with the FoldyLock Forever since it comes with a frame mountable storage sleeve, which makes it much easier to access and store than a heavy chain. Also it offers a little more flexibility than a U-lock, since you can wrap it around wider objects that might pose a problem for a U-lock. It's lighter than a cable lock, but heavier than a U-lock. The key is a high quality automotive style one.

I recently bought a very expensive e-bike, and wanted a heavy duty lock to protect it when I stop. I didn't want a chain or cable based lock, as I didn't want to have it sitting in a bag on the bike, or banging/sliding around making noise and damaging the paint.Pros: - It folds up neatly, and slides securely into the holder which is easily mounted to the bike frame. It does not rattle, bounce, or make noise of any kind while riding. The mount is very stable. I love the clean look.- The sections of the lock are coated and won't easily damage the paint on the bike.- While no bike lock is entirely theft proof, this one is designed to be very resistant to cutting and wedging (nut splitter) attacks. I feel that this is a reasonable deterrent to quick-hit thieves when you stop for short periods along a ride. It is commonly rated as the strongest folding lock.Cons:- This lock is heavy. At almost 4 pounds, if you are looking for a light-weight lock, this is probably not for you. But as noted above, the weight is a result of the beefy components that are intended to make it stronger and more resistant to portable cutting tools.- The sections of the lock (and the overall length) are the longest I could find, but this could potentially limit the flexibility of what you can lock to. I looked for overall length to help ensure that I would be able to lock my bike to a wider array of bike racks and permanent structures, but the length of the arms can sometimes result in some awkward angles when attaching to things that effectively shorten it's overall useful length. This shouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker, but be aware that this isn't long enough to mount through/around some racks or structures like trees, etc. I can lock my front wheel to my frame on my Aventon Level 2 (barely,) so I can at least do that if I have to, but if you need more flexibility, and security isn't as big a concern, a heavy cable or chain lock might be an option.- Similarly, the bulk of this lock can (at least in the case of my bike) make it awkward to to get the lock out of the mount. (The only place I could reasonably mount mine to the frame of the Level 2 made for a pretty snug and finicky fit when trying to remove the lock from the mount.) I don't mind as I am not often locking and unlocking the bike, just be sure to consider your specific frame when purchasing this lock.- This lock is expensive. At over $100, this is a substantial investment. Considering the cost of replacing a new e-bike, it's worth it to me, but this is a consideration.- The joints can be a bit stiff. They will occasionally bind which requires a little force get them moving again. Not sure why this is, and it isn't a big deal, but I have noticed it.- Super minor nitpick, but I don't like the gold/brass colored plate around the lock keyway. I wish they made a version with a matte black powder coated finish. I did a sloppy/quick paint job with some black gloss spray paint I had around, but I would really like to have seen a black plated version.Overall, I am happy with this super heavy duty lock, and would buy it again.

I just got my Foldylock Forever today, so this is more of an initial impressions review. The overall quality appears and feels excellent - definitely a step up from the midrange Kryptonite and ABUS locks I have. It folds very smoothly and the case fits well though I have yet to mount it.The lock mechanism works very well, and the pin of the locking arm seats into place on the lock with a very satisfying click, which is enough to hold it while you turn the locking cylinder. The locking mechanism is also very smooth out of the box, but for whatever reason it counterintuitively works backwards! That is, to lock it, you turn the key counterclockwise, and to unlock, clockwise - both ways you have to turn the key 180 degrees. Most locks which require a half turn like that, at least in the USA, work the other way: Lefty loosely, righty tighty (from the top) just like standard right hand threads. That's not a deal breaker - but it is odd.
