Got this to clean my 10 and 5 gallon aquariums. I was a little worried it may be a bit too small for what I needed, but it was just perfect size for 10 and 5 gallon.I think if I went with a bigger model, the water would siphon too fast and I’d be unable to properly get areas I wanted in the tank.Easily disassembles to clean out and clear any debris sucked up that gets caught in the grate that blocks the hose itself! If you’re looking for something to help you clean your tanks, look no further !

This seems like a fairly simple thing to use and there are loads of videos to guide you. However I've just spent over an hour trying to get this to work and it will not suction a single drop of water, never mind any debris. It is an enormous waste of time, waste of money and does not clean your fish tank. I have tried to use this on a 5 gallon betta tank.

I have to admit I was skeptical when I first got this product. Just put the tube in the water and shake the top until water flows? I don't have to squeeze some ball or worse? Yeah, sure. Then...it worked! This is a great size for my smallish tank. It doesn't frighten the fish and it sucks up all the goo without danger to the fish. Once in a while, a small one may get swooped up, but I just pull the tube out and let the fish and the water flow back into the aquarium. The fish is a bit confused, but unhurt.Great product at a great price. I highly recommend!

This product makes it very easy to do routine maintenance on a larger aquarium. I use it for gravel cleaning and water changes on my 55-gallon freshwater tank. The siphon is not difficult to start. Once established, the flow is more than adequate for lifting the gravel part-way up the rigid tube, separating the accumulated waste and detritus from the gravel, and returning the gravel to the bottom of the tank. The waste is sucked up through the rigid piece, into the flexible tubing, and out into whatever receptacle you use to collect your waste water. There is a screen at the top of the rigid tube that prevent fish, gravel, or other large items from getting sucked into the flexible tubing and clogging it. I recommend watching your waste water receptacle closely, because it will fill faster than you might expect. This product is very useful, and makes maintaining my 55-gallon tank a breeze. Highly recommended.

I should have listened to the other reviews complaining about the lack of power. What it really boils down to (IMO) is that the valve is poorly designed. It relies on the grate to be perfectly tight in order to prevent backflow. Gotta check that grate before every water change!! Even when the valve is working, it is very difficult to start via any of the three common methods.Another major flaw is the lack of an angle at the input end. I find there is no effective suction until the entire oval is pressed against the gravel surface, which is difficult when there is no angle.Lastly, the large diameter hose pulls water way too quickly. The combination of no angle with large hose turns this is a rapid siphon. This leaves me rushing to clean what I can before the bucket is full.Perhaps I got spoiled with my old Fluval vac, but its smaller hose gave me plenty of time to dig around and loosen detris. Too bad they don't make a longer one. My hunt for a good 24" gravel vac continues.

I like the size of the gravel head cleaner, however I've found that the tubing for the gravel cleaner tends to get bent and reduces flow easily. I've since replaced the actual tubing with something more sturdy that doesn't get bent and reduce water flow. Otherwise It works great.

I have a 36 gallon bow front tank. With two ever growing Tiger Oscars and three smaller Cichlids the tank can get quite messy. I have an oversized Fluval that does a great job of keeping the water clean but it doesn't pull the muck off the bottom of the tank.I purchased the large Marina Easy Clean Gravel Cleaner and it works great. Once you get the siphon started it does a great job of pulling the muck from the gravel. In just a few minutes it removes what you can see and what is buried. Then you simply dump the waste bucket ( any 5 gallon one will do) and refill the tank to it's normal level.

It was my first time using a gravel cleaner and due to some boy, I was not given the packaging or instructions. Of course said boy could not get it to work properly, blaming improper instructions. ANYWAY, a simple YouTube search yield a variety of results and after a few minutes, I got the technique down and water was flowing. There is a small learning curve for first-time siphon users. To get most of the crap (and I do mean crap) out from the gravel, giving the gravel a nice stir is helpful to release all the nasty things that have sink in over the course of the week(s). Right after you're done (or as done as you want to be), the water is going to be quite murky until everything is settle again. Do keep in mind, this is to help vacuum stuff out from the gravel- it will never be 100% clean (unless you start fresh but that is not necessarily good for your aquarium & its inhabitants). Its able to suck up a lot of particles and poo. It does not do so well with bits of fish parts (I have turtles. They eat fishes. Turtles can be messy eaters). My aquarium is cleaner, water cleaner, and turtles are probably happier. yay.
