I use this implement to roll 10-12 ft logs that are up to 20-22" diameter. Provides adequate leverage and enables me (68 yrs old) to maneuver very heavy logs and position them as needed without taking a chance on hurting my back. This peavey hook has been a great help!

This is a good peavey. Heavy-duty, tough. A bit bulky, but the heft can be reassuring. I did have to sharpen the dog hook myself as it wouldn't hardly bite & hold into a log's bark as it came, but it works great, now. I'd definitely buy it, again.

Used one time and bent pretty badly. It still works for now but I don’t trust it to do the job safely.

Not a great design, hook arm doesn't grab well.

Used to move 8 ft by 24 inch diameter logs. Rolled nicely. Any size log bigger I would get the longer handle. I'm retired and not as strong as I once was.

Take this all with a grain of salt bc I’ve never used a peavy before. This one could be overkill or also possibly junk compared to others, but here’s my use case and experience…We bought a house, cleared some land and had the tree removal company leave behind the hardwood oak for the fire pit we’re going to have next year. They left about 12 logs that are about 12-15ft & Rangoon from 1-2ft in diameter, in a pile. I’ve chopped wood in my younger days, but never used a chain saw or peavy - I didn’t even know peavys (peavies???) existed until I looked up how the hell I could move the logs to cut through them without hitting the ground (I’m not that stupid thankfully).Anyway, I got everything I needed (chainsaw, oil, log slipping axe, cart to move the chopped wood, firewood rack to season the final product) and got to work. The peavy is solid. It heavy and well made, as I would imagine it would have to be with the stress you’re putting on it. I’m able to roll these massive logs that are about again as big as 20-25 inches in diameter and 15ft of solid oak with easy. Def have to be careful and watch where you’re feet are!Again, I’m not a well versed mountain man. Grew up in the burbs, moved to the city and just recently bought a house on a few acres where doing this type of work yourself is more the norm. It’s kind of fun and a great workout.Anyway, you could find a cheaper one but for a $10-20 difference is it realty worth possibly buying a piece of junk? I would buy this again if needed.

Item arrived without the moving hook. I guess I'll have to return and try again. Groan.
