Here's How to Put Them Together
1. Unscrew the bottom half of the clutch, and remove the bottom screw and felt.
2. Attach the top part of the clutch and top felt to the top hi hat cymbal.
3. Turn the cymbal over, and underneath the cymbal, put the felt back onto the clutch.
4. Take the removed bottom screw, and screw it back onto the clutch. Use the top screws to adjust the tightness of your top cymbal.
5. Finally, put the hi hat clutch and cymbal onto the rod of the hi hat stand, and tighten the wingnut at your desired placement. You can use the pedal of your stand to help get the placement just right.
6. When all is said and done, you should have the two felts sandwiching your cymbal in between them, with two screws above the felts for tightness adjustment, and one screw on the bottom holding everything together.

I had to drill mine out with a 9/32" bit for it to fit my 7 mm HH shaft. Worked fine afterwards.

The actual mechanism to lock and unlock the clutch does not work. I cannot screw the mechanism in like in the photos so when the high hat clutch is on the rod it doesn't catch onto it so the rod just moves freely. What you see in the photo is the TIGHTEST I can screw in without hurting my hand. In the photos the screw is all the way in so the actual locking and unlocking mechanism of the clutch works. I DO NOT HAVE THAT BECAUSE THE SCREW DOES NOT WANT TO GO IN ALL THE WAY BECAUSE OF HOW THE THREADS ARE ORIENTED. I have no idea why the threads are so tight and why the screw itself cannot and does not want to screw in all the way but this is super frustrating. The felts also feel extremely low quality. I will be returning this ASAP. Please be careful with what you buy because even with high reviews my high hat clutch was extremely defective which makes me not want to buy another one from this specific brand.

This clutch fits a 7mm Pearl HiGatcRod perfectly. And the aluminum makes this super light! The wing screw is 6mm and is a bit tiny. I swapped mine out with a Erhinomic wing screw in 6mm. Works great. All in all this is a very nice clutch fir a fraction of the cost of a name brand heavier in be. Sweet!!

Clutches aren't terribly sexy, but this one is kinda cool because of the anodized red. It's good, too, because the rod on my high hat is 7mm and a clutch I ordered earlier, which said fits standard rods, didn't, as it was too small.

I purchased these for my music school drum rentals and they were not purchased as a paid promotion or other incentives. I bought them because I needed them.I have tried to buy clutches locally but the ones my local music stores get in stock, go immediately to their drum rental department - I guess everyone is hard on hi-hat clutches. I bought 6 and have used 1 and can say that the quality, while on the average spectrum seems pretty decent. I was worried that the thumb screw might strip easily but so far it's held up for over a month on a kit that is played constantly.I actually quite like the red metal look of these clutches as they add a splash of colour to a necessary but perfunctory drum accessory. Felts are good and the threads are well made.I can't speak for the longevity of this clutch, but will update the review at the 6 month mark to weigh in with more information at that point. As for now, this certainly does the job and looks great doing it.
