Functional, light, very good lighting. I like that it has options for a plug in or a battery. The cord it comes with though is VERY short

It should have a lower level of brightness. There are two, but both are too bright.

I received the etone darkroom safelight as a gift.I have extreme light sensitivity, the most severe my doctors say they have ever seen. I'm especially sensitive to cool white LEDs and others that have a lot of short wavelength blue light in their sepctrum. This light is wonderful and soft. I use it at night time, and leave it on all night. It helps me stay asleep, as the red seems to help counter any blue coming in from the windows. I don't do photography, so I can't say anything about how it works for film development, but for needing a lamp without blue light or glare, it's wonderful.

Great little red light for Cyanotype.

This light claims to emit 635nm light, which, if true, will ruin your film. Many films, such as Ilford 1574577 HP5 Plus, are *most sensitive* at 635nm, so rather than being a good darkroom light, this is about the same as exposing your film to full sunlight.

This is a frosted, plastic cube with a red LED inside. That's it. It probably cost less than a dollar to manufacture.

This light is perfect for you if you need something basic to do things like coat plates, load some films, develop some things like plates or sheets of orthochromatic film, etc. I have not used it for large scale printing.I tested the light at various distances (see photo). The black photo paper on the right is a piece that has been exposed to normal light. The two pieces of paper on the left are two that were tested between .25 meters all the way to 4-6 meters. I saw no noticeable fogging at all with either setting on the light. I also tested it with Rockland’s liquid light emulsion saw no fogging at all at about 6 inches distance for 5 minutes. That’s pretty good!Highly recommended!

Very cheaply made. It's about a dollar worth of plastic with a red LED inside. Seems like it'll do the job.
