The DA47-00424L Refrigerator Defrost Heater heats the refrigerator’s cooling element to prevent it from freezing. It works with the defrost timer to heat the element at regular intervals. A worn or broken defrost element may cause the refrigerator’s cooling element to freeze. You might need to replace the defrost heater in your refrigerator if:
- Your refrigerator or freezer are too warm
- Your freezer will not defrost
- Frost has built up on the freezer coils

Every 2 weeks my fridge would freeze up and ice wouldn't melt. The issue was this element. Seems to be a common issue with a samsung fridge.
