The timing belt essentially coordinates the rotations of the camshaft & crankshaft which in turn, ensures that the valves and pistons all move in sync. Over time the belt expands/contracts due to heat and age which causes the belt to slowly deteriorate.
Some of the common symptoms of a bad or failing timing belt include: loss of power, whirring or whining noises, oil or coolant leakages, engine misfires, ticking noise, exhaust smoke, check engine light, and engine failure.
Typically, timing belts should be replaced every 60,000-100,000 miles. However, when replacing timing belt, you better replace the water pump and other timing component to avoid further engine damage.

The the timing belt did not have the marks for the camshaft or the crankshaft, but you really don't need them if you know what you're doing

Kit was convenient to buy,economical,parts fit, but timing belt tensioner failed in less than 1,000 miles creating double labor which was not economical at all. Buyer be ware. The water pump was machined improperly so couldn't be used.

first off the belt has no timing marks... second after getting it all together the belt tensioner rattles, waste of time and money

Everything required to do the a complete update on the old girl. All that is required is patience.For the average die hard driveway mechanic read read and read the description properly as sometimes there can be a mid year parts change . Do your research ensure that the part will in fact fit not only your car but not just the car but the actual model, engine type and year that you have. If not sure check with the manufacture websites and forums
