These speakers are great, lots of clarity, with crisp bright highs and full lows (not too flubby). I've used these in a few amps and they are always excellent. They can get super loud. A little better at cleans than overdriven tones, but most amps / speakers excel more at one than the other.

If you have a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue (DRRI) then this is for you. The stock Jensen is fine at higher volumes, but is very flat at lower volumes. This speaker sounds great at any volume. Musical and articulate.

Bought for a 1976 SF Deluxe Reverb because the internet said it was "The One". Installed it and there was this annoying high end that I could not EQ out. Then I remembered that I had had a 68 Custom Vibrolux that had 2 10" versions of this speaker that had the same high end sound that made me sell the amp.The speaker itself was well built. I have all the respect in the world for George Alessandro and the magic he works on amps. I just do not like the sound of this speaker.

I used this Alessandro speaker to replace the stock Celestion 70/80 in the Monoprice Stage Right Tube 15 (the Chinese clone amp of many names lol)... the stock speaker was very harsh sounding to my ears even after 1.5 years of breaking in period. After much online research I ended up landing on this speaker (other strong runner up was the Creamback) to replace the stock and I am happy with the results so far (price helped the Eminence win). Cleans seem to have a more pleasant tone (I'm a novice so hard to describe) but the really noticeable difference to me is when you introduce more gain! Distortion/overdriven tones sound less muddy and individual notes are clearer. I look forward to playing something with humbuckers on it in the near future. This was my first time doing a speaker swap but was pretty straightforward after watching a few vids.. I ended up pulling the tubes to make more space since I went in through the back :-)

My new Blues Jr. came with a Jensen C12Q. While some break in helped the Jensen get a little less harsh, and it does the glassy vintage Fender cleans well, the highs were just a bit too dominant for my taste.I already knew about the SC64 and what it could bring to the table: fuller highs in balance with the lows and just a touch of mids. Plus, they are priced reasonably. I've owned three over the years and always found them to be a solid choice. So I gave up trying to keep breaking in the Jensen and bought my latest SC64. I couldn't be happier. I don't have to turn the treble of the amp way down now and the amp just sounds richer and bigger across the spectrum. It also takes dirt pedals much better than the Jensen sound and this is all right out of the box.One criticism: all the SC64s I purchased over the years had at least one section of the felt mounting ring falling off the speaker rim. It's not a big deal because it's not part of the cone. In this latest case, a small drop of glue held the felt in place so I could rest assured the speaker would mount evenly.

Has all the things I loved about my Jensen speaker without the ice pick treble or fizzy overdrive. Still keeps those nice fender cleans. A great speaker. I’ve tried the Jensen, the Texas heat, cannibas Rex, and now the GA. The Allesandro wins hands down. I’m done rolling speakers in the blues junior.

I bought this speaker based on many other reviews by people who recommended the GA-SC64 for vintage mid-60s Fender tone in a Deluxe Reverb. I had recently swapped out the stock Jensen C12K from my DRRI for a Tone Tubby 40/40 (which is also an excellent choice) to tame the high end in my amp, but my curiosity about the Alessandro persuaded me to order it anyway. It sounded fantastic right out of the box and has only improved with a few hours of break-in playing time. Firm bass, chiming treble that’s not too sharp but slightly better defined than the Tone Tubby, and just the right balance in the mids. The GA-SC64 lives up to its reputation as an ideal replacement speaker for Deluxe-type amps. I also tried this speaker with a Fender Blues Jr — it sounds brighter and a little glassier compared with what I’ve experienced from the Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker that I use in that amp.I definitely recommend the Alessandro as an upgrade for low-watt, vintage Fender tone.

Great speaker. I have a reissue Fender Biues Deluxe, and they are know for their boomy bottom end, and and shrill highs. This speaker really sweetened things up. Thanks!

I installed a GA-SC64 in an unmodified Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It replaced an Eminence Legend, which I felt was too shrill in the treble and too flubby in the bass. The GA-SC64 was an immediate, dramatic improvement. It solved the "icepick" problem that I so often had with other vintage-voiced Fender speakers while providing resonant, round, and somewhat focused bass. Treble is airy yet somewhat crisp, like the best broken-in vintage speakers. Most importantly, the EQ is gorgeously balanced. All points on the spectrum blend beautifully to create smooth but snappy cleans and lush, harmonic-laden breakup. The GA-SC64 also improved my amplifier's tone stack response and dynamics. The speaker requires a short (perhaps remarkably short) break-in period. Cleans are beautiful and articulate out of the box, though the treble initially feels slightly disconnected from the rest of the EQ curve. This resolves after a few hours of playing at a moderate volume. Similarly, the new speaker felt a bit stiff and muffled in the mids. I had a difficult time eliciting note bloom and harmonics with a Zendrive, King of Tone, and humbucker-equipped guitars at bedroom volume: notes that would usually blossom beyond their fundamental felt a bit stifled. Again, this resolved within a few hours of play time with magical results. The speaker takes pedals very well. Dumble pedals sound like Dumble pedals. Klons clones provide round, honky mids. Fuzz circuits are thick and nuanced. The GA-SC64 speaker is one of the finest I've heard for a Fender Blackface-style circuit. It's airy yet never shrill; articulate; and extraordinarily well-balanced. In my opinion, it is a wiser choice for a Fender than Jensen reissues or British-style speakers. It keeps your Fender a Fender! VERY well done, Eminence and George Alessandro!
