How long should I charge my two way radio battery?
As always, it depends on the type of battery. Ni-CAD, Ni-MH and Li-Ion all have different charging methods.
Generally though, it should only take two hours on a rapid charger and 4-6 hours on a standard charger.
When using for the first time, it is recommended that you charge overnight, that is, the charging time is about 12 hours. Some specialized chargers take longer, such as charger-conditioners.
What do I do with my old batteries?
You can dispose of any batteries at any RBRC affiliated store. The RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) has members in every major city in the United States. There is no charge to drop your batteries off there. Home Depot and Radio Shack are two of its predominant members.

They arrived fine. The first thing I do when I receive batteries especially from Chine is check the actual mAh ratings. All five batteries tested twice and all 10 tests showed mAh between 840-871 mAh on all batteries. DO NOT BUY.

Attempted to charge 2 of 5 batteries sent, BOTH fail to charge in the standard UV-5R charging cradle, while attached to the UV-5R. After less than a minute in charging unit, it displays battery not found status (blinking red and green LED) and stops charging. Returned!

This ad says this replacement battery is a BL-5 and fits the BF-F8HP. It does not. As you see in the pics, it is not the same size. It is thinner. The nubs on the end are not even close to being the same and so do not line up with the radio to snap in.FALSE ADVERTISING.
