Echo offers a variety of chain sharpening kits, based on file diameter, that contain all the tools you'll need to get that chain back to sharp and continue on the job. By sharpening chains at regular intervals you help to extend the life of the chain and reduce effort and fatigue on the job by cutting with a sharper sawchain.

I am not impressed with this kit. The round files seem OK, but the flat file I received is garbage. I tried to file down the depth gauges (which is the main reason to purchase this kit) and they mark the file. The flat file does nothing to the depth gauges and does not cut at all. The parallel height tool has so many depths on it is is difficult to tell. It is very wide and hard to set on the teeth as required. Takes almost 3 hands to keep from wrecking the tool with the file. You have to go back to Echo your instruction manual to find the easy angle and hidden depth. As shown in the video, the handle in the kit I received does not fit the flat file. The round files seem to cut as well as some Oregon files I bought earlier this week. Overall, not impressed for the cost.

Product is great and works well but if you didn't already know how to use it the instructions it comes with are useless. I recommend watching the videos available on Echo's website or on YouTube.

This kit is just okay; it will get you chain sharp but since the files are sub-standard, it takes a little more effort (and longer too). I bought replacement Oregon 5/32" files, and they cut three to four times better. I was making 5-7 passes with the Echo files, and only need 2-3 with the Oregon files.

I am a heavy. HEAVY Echo user, and recently purchased an Echo CS-400-18 Chainsaw. As a new user I was very unsure of myself and the tools needed to properly maintain the chain, or the engine of that matter. Luckily the chainsaw itself came with the Scrench needed to open the oil cap and adjust the chain, but the files used to sharpen the chain can get expensive! The kit itself is very self descriptive as to how to use it. I am a very novice user with little experience taking care of a chainsaw, but this kit gave me confidence. There are multiple different angles for difference chains, and the tool has a labeled guide to help you line up with the right one. The tools that come in the kit help you sharpen the chain with a round file, a handle to hold files, an angle guide, and a setting guide to keep the guides on the chain at the right height. The roll up kit is something a veteran lumberjack carrys with him everyday and is made of firehose material that can withstand the elements. As you can see in the photo attached I have my collection of Echo lawn care tools and hung below my chainsaw is this great kit!If you have any questions about this review please email me at ReviewOne23@gmail.com!

Its okay, but very slow. I don't think I did enough passes to have a good effect and took a very tedious 30 mins. I found bits for a Dremel tool that was the tight thickness (on amazon). Put tips in my drill and was able to eyeball the angle fine and sharpened up nicely in a few mins. Will need the flat file in this kit to adjust the depth guide after a couple sharpening's, won't try to Dremel that.

I love this sharpening kit. The instructions were relatively easy to follow, and the DVD was very helpful as well. I have been sharpening my own saw chains now for a couple of months, and it is really nice to not have to drive for a half-hour one way when the shop is open to drop off my chainsaw, wait until I get a call that the chain has been sharpened, and then drive a half-hour one way again to pick up my saw. It doesn't take much to sharpen the chain, and the saw cuts much easier and faster with a sharp chain!

I have an Echo CS-400. I bought this to keep the chain sharp. Love the kit, love the guide. Got what I wanted. It stays in my Chainsaw box all the time and works great. I like the wrap organizer.

Simple, safe, effective. Took about five minutes to bring my CS40 blade back to like-new.
