I used these on a rust spot on my vehicle. It worked just fine but needed something different for the job. I am very pleased with this brand of sanding products. Would recommend.

I use 3" stripping discs a lot. I bought these because they were less expensive. They work as well as others that are twice as expensive. I fact I had some of the more expensive ones and these were identical.

These stripping wheels make quick work of rust and paint. Any finish on whatever is being stripped will also be removed, or at least damaged enough that complete removal is better. With normal pressure, these will leave a prominent scratch pattern. With a light touch and practice, that scratch pattern can be light enough that it won't be noticed without close inspection. These claim to be good up to 22000 rpm. I'm not so confident that they'll stay together at that high a speed, so ran them closer to 5000 rpm. They worked great at that speed. Even at slower speeds wear eye protection.

I live on a farm and equipment maintenance is an ongoing task. I like to clean up rust and loose paint before using primer. I usually use wire brushes on an angle grinder but after having a piece of wire imbed in my face I was looking for an alternative. These only work with a drill so it’s slower than the grinder but appears to work well. Even if I could adapt it to work with a grinder I’m afraid that it won’t take the speed.

These wheels are nice and abrasive. The one that I have used so far has done the job quickly on my air grinder.

I normally use wire wheels and cup brushes with a small angle grinder to remove rust and old finishes, followed by hand brushing and sometimes a sanding block. Wire wheels will clean up a weld, though they will not remove weld spatter which must be done with abrasives. This Dura-Gold abrasive stripping set includes ten abrasive discs which have a screw on them to attach to the ¼” backing pad and arbor which the package says is designed for use with an electric drill. The maximum 22,000 RPM rating the vendor lists seems high since the disc and backing pad assemblies are not balanced and there is a risk they could disintegrate at high speeds. As with any power tool, eye and respiratory protective equipment must always be used.I am restoring an old drill press which has considerable rust and scale on components which must be removed before refinishing those parts. These abrasive wheels are quite coarse, and I was able to remove rust and scale very quickly with my cordless drill. To keep the abrasive in contact, I recommend applying the wheels to the surface with a back-and-forth motion keeping light pressure towards the outer edge of the wheel. This maintains steady contact and effective performance. Start with a slower speed (as you would for driving fasteners) and do not use more pressure than necessary – let the abrasive do the work. With a little practice, these wheels are very effective. It is important to note that abrasives create a scratch pattern on the surface so this set is best used where the surface will be refinished or painted, and wire wheels should be used when preserving the existing surface finish is a priority. These abrasive wheels are also good for cleaning up welds and removing spatter and other material from the metal and will remove casting marks and other irregularities. When used as described, this set performs well.

These are great for removing paint on metal or light rust. The backing pad is made of plastic and screws onto the scrubbing disks. I wish there was an extra backing pad included in case one breaks or is worn. The brush pads wear out an average amount of time, but I have nothing to compare against. The drill shank is marked as 1/4” wide, but I had trouble fitting into my die grinder. These are as good as more expensive pads.
