The length of the footboard helps a lot. There is also an included toe-stop that can screw in on the top side of the footboard to prevent toes creeping up toward the chain. Many settings are easily adjusted. DW 9000 series equipment is fantastic!

This is simply the best drum pedal I've ever used. It is a joy to use, very responsive and quick, yet lets you control the dynamics very efficiently. Build quality appears to be very high.

This is by far the smoothest pedal I've ever played. I've had axis and tama and pearl, but they don't come close to this thing. Start saving because it's worth it.

I used the normal-length model for a couple of years, and loved it. Power and sensitivity are better than any pedal I've owned. If you have larger feet (12EE on me) and/or want to increase speed- this pedal is even better. Everybody could use an extra inch! The mounting system is improved, and the bottom of the plate is covered with a textured plastic that grips well. Built like a tank. Well worth the cost, compared to almost-as expensive and far inferior pedals that I have tried (including the DW5000).
