These LaBear chucks are actual steel. After having purchased some others that turned out to be aluminum and also wobbled the bit in my press, I tried out LaBear (two on the left). Drill bit wobble immediately went away, and I’m able to sufficiently tighten it without stripping the casing. All the chucks were around the same price, which surprises me now that I’ve held both, and can instantly feel the heavier and more durable build of the LaBear adapters. The teeth of the LaBear chuck are also much better (still pictured on the left) coming to an even close point without too much chamfering creating a large gap making it hard to clamp those small drill bits. These definitely feel like the premium grade I was hoping to get, just still surprised by the price!

Nice little chuck. Runs very true if you hold it in a drill press. Don't expect it to run true if you use it in a 1/4” hex drive tool. The tolerance of both the drill and the chuck aren't good enough for the drill bit to have no runout.

This is actually very well made and runs very true. Great for small dia drills and fits in my drill case.

Nice smaller chuck. Good steel construction. Constriction collar is a bit ruff. Use a glove when tightening it. It is kinda ruff on the skin.

Did not hold drills well, fell apart when opening fully, poor design. Cheap......

My drill press has a chuck that won't hold a bit smaller than 3/16”. With this adapter, I can drill precise holes using much smaller bits in my drill press. Why? I'm an oaf, and I break a lot of bits trying to drill tiny holes with a hand-held drill.

Sturdily built and works! What more could a DYI-er want?

This broke after 2 months of very soft use. Maybe used it a handful of times in the 2 months and it snapped on me. Thought I could save a buck definitely not worth $5 even JUNK!
