I have used these for our other kayaks and am getting them again for the one we just got for the kids. These things are sturdy and well built. Not plastic, not fiberglass, not aluminum, but a good steel bracket with a powdercoat finish. Your kayak will fall apart before this thing ever bends or cracks. The padding is nice to keep your kayak from being badly scratched or scuffed. The straps are adjustable and can fit a variety of sizes of boats, and they are very easy to install, just two lag screws. My only suggestion would be to grab a couple of washers to use when hanging them for between the lag screw head and the bracket - maybe not necessary but I did it anyway. Otherwise - 5/5 stars and will buy again if we ever need another set!

This is a well-made classic design kayak storage rack. I found I did not need the straps at all seeing that I used it inside of a shed. The arms of the rack are covered with a foam similar to pipe insulation. I do not find this material, particularly durable, so it will probably need replacement at some point, but for now I'm just going to put cloth or a towel over it to ease the friction when I slide the kayak on. There were no directions included, but it was pretty easy to figure out how to assemble it after looking at the Amazon picture.

While this Kayak Storage Rack should work okay for a narrow hard shell kayak, it is much too small to accommodate an inflatable kayak.

Hold a big Pelican kayak without problem. You can space the racks as far apart as needed so should work for a variety of boats. Just wouldn't use them outside because they will rust before long and the padding isn't likely to hold up to UV exposure--it's just regular pipe insulation. Simple, time tested design.

I ordered these with the intention of holding my rooftop Thule cargo box to keep it off the ground in my garage and these work great. They are made of sturdy boxed metal, which is well-coated on the outside to prevent rusting. The foam padding is thick and covers a significant portion of the metal bars to protect what you hang on them. The straps are wide enough to cover a pretty large kayak or roof box to ensure they don’t fall off. The mounts bump out far enough away from the wall that it can hold a pretty deep kayak, canoe or box like my Thule Motion XL. The included hardware his very sturdy feeling, though I don’t think I trust the wall anchors very well. If you can, definitely mount this into a stud, especially if you are mounting something heavy.A couple negatives include that the paint on the frame does not extend into the middle of the bars, meaning it will likely eventually rust since these live in an unconditioned space. As you can tell from the photos, the foam padding is bunched up a bit on one of the bars and there are gaps between it and the metal that will trap dust and other junk. It’s clear they’re simple pipe insulation slipped on bent metal, rather than having something that was designed specifically for this application. The foam also doesn’t go up high enough to cover the screw holes, meaning the exposed hardware will probably scratch whatever you mount into the holder over time unless you are VERY careful with what you put up there. I have put some foam adhesive over the screws, which is ugly, but works to protect my roof box.All that said, these are $45 at the time of review, so what you’re getting for the money is a really good value. As long as you know what you’re getting and can accommodate for it, you can make it work and that’s why it’s five stars from me.

Rack is a pretty nice quality for the price. Unfortunately it does not fit my two kayaks (Wilderness Recon 120’s). It would be nice in manufacturers did more research on different kayak widths before putting a product out in market.

I got this for a Lifetime Hydros kayak. In the images, it's the top one. We managed to get this to fit, but only barely. The kayak blocks the top of the bracket, and the straps are not long enough to go around the circumference of the back end of the kayak and still buckle, so it is being held on by only the front strap. The quality is decent, not amazing, but the fact that the bracket ended up being for what I think of as our smaller kayak is an issue for me. It might have done okay with our daughter's 6' Lifetime Wave, but for the adult 8' kayaks, it's insufficient.
