When the blend door shaft on certain Jeep vehicles breaks, the dealer repair usually requires removing the dashboard and replacing the air distribution box. This Dorman OE FIX repair kit saves hundred of dollars in parts and several hours in labor by allowing the blend door shaft to be repaired in place. This kit replaces the factory's fragile snap-on actuator arm with a redesigned screw-on arm, and includes the correct drill bit to create the proper hole to insert the new part. This repair kit is suitable for vehicles equipped with either single-zone or dual-zone climate control systems. Vehicle model years this part fits (be sure to check your vehicle trim using the Amazon garage) - [Jeep Commander: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010] - [Jeep Grand Cherokee: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010]

Instructions stop after the part is screwed in. To line up the new part with the old actuator, I fiddled with the passenger side temperature knob until it was close enough, turned the Jeep off, tightened actuator screws, then turned Jeep back on and played with the knob again. It seems to self calibrate. The new part works great, will update if otherwise! There are a couple different styles, I recommend taking yours apart to check before ordering.

Do not buy. Drill bit is not correct size for the screw. Broke the shaft almost immediately. Took the next four hours removing dash to replace the entire unit.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical but this worked perfect to get out heater working again without tearing the whole dash apart. It was actually really easy to install too with the provided bit.

Although the "kit" did not come with the drill bit included, it was the perfect fix for the job. I now have restored the dual zone controls to full function!!

My Jeep has dual climate controls and both of my blend doors broke. I used this kit on both sides and they are both working perfectly now. Not the easiest install, but not terribly difficult if you have the right tools. Saved me so much money compared to removing the air box.Yes, the repair piece is literally one of Dorman's replacement actuators with a screw just epoxied into it. Pricey for what it is, but way cheaper than any other alternative fix I know of. Also, the included instructions are garbage. Unusable. Thankfully, Dorman has a pretty good YouTube video that shows how to install. Just search YouTube for it.The most difficult part of the install in my opinion is drilling the hole. There is not much room to work with under the dashboard and more than likely the leftover broken stub is not going to be flat. Take your time drilling the hole. Any mistakes there, like an oversized or crooked hole, could sink your whole job. The rest of the install is relatively easy once that hole is properly drilled.

If your actuator arm breaks off this is the ticket. 2008 jeep grand Cherokee behind the glove box. You can watch you tube videos on how it works. The directions this came with were printed on a printer that ran out of ink 3 weeks ago and they kept using it. You can't see a thing on it. I plan on mailing that back so Dorman has extra toilet paper at their offices. Great product that will save you big money. Embarrassing quality control on the directions.
