My stock mode door actuator failed in my 2015 F150 (King Ranch, dual temp control). I could get it working by banging on it with a screwdriver and restarting the truck, but that got old fast in the New Mexico heat. This part saved the day. Two things to note:1. Installation is tricky, but doable. I'm a big guy. I have fat fingers, a fat head, and stocky arms. When I first looked at where the screws are located for this thing under the dash, my first thought was, "I guess I'm going to a mechanic." After a few minutes of positioning and contorting, I was able to get my chubby little fingers all the way up into where the screws were and could use the tools I had on hand to do it myself. I'm mechanically inclined, but not a mechanic by any means, so YOU CAN DO IT. Just take your time and be patient. Work your hands around and figure out how to get a bit on there that you can get some pressure behind. The screws that hold it in are sturdy. They're small, but not so small that they're horrible to work with... just be careful you don't drop them.2. The alignment tool is a great addition to this part. Lots of the complaints about changing mode acuators in these vehicles come from folks who don't bother (or don't know) to align the gears prior to putting this in. You need to turn the gear on the part itself to where the gap in the teeth line up to the arrow on the part. Mine was pre-aligned. Now, use a driver with the supplied alignment bit to match the gears inside the truck to where the gap in the teeth on the part are. In my case, the gap was almost striaght toward the front of the truck. It's tricky to figure out, but if you can temporarily place the part up there you can sort of see where the gears should be. My truck WAS NOT properly aligned when I took the old part out, so had I not had the alightment bit I don't know how I would've fixed it.I've had the replacement in for about a week and the mode door moves every day because it's cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. No problems so far.

What an absolute nightmare to go through all that headache to install this through the a/c vent on my 2015 f150. Now after a month of it being fixed I get the pleasure of doing it all over again.. this time I will buy a better made part.

The part worked good, getting everything lined up and timed was rough but it probably would have helped if my part came with the alignment tool like it was supposed to.

I have a 2019 Ford F150 limited. This fall, I noticed the heat was only working on the drivers side. After a lot of research, I ordered this for the actuator behind the vent and screen. I used a small vice grip to hold the plastic vent shut to the left side so I could fit my hand and arm above the metal bar and back to the actuator to remove the old one. A t20 bit is used to remove the two screws. I used it on a super small flat bar style socket so I had enough torq to remove the screws. The old actuator had a bad gear. I removed it and took out the plastic cam. Then I put the replacement in. Unfortunately, this replacement was faulty and even once lined up, it kept popping the cam out when turning the heat dial to hot after being installed. I tried installing it many times and kept resetting the position. Wasted about 2 hours. Then I went to our local for dealership and got the OEM Ford Motorcraft YH-1950 actuator. It went right in and worked right away. It was $34 at the dealership, but is only $25 on amazon. So save the headache and buy the factory/OEM part in my opinion. Do make sure the Cam gets lined up correctly with the part that moves inside the track. Put the cam in the circle and check that the track is lined up. Next, put in the actuator and line up the gear inside the cam when dropping it in. You'll then make sure the actuator is aligned with the 2 screw holes and that the front left peg is through the hole to help line it up. Then put in the 2 screws, put back in the electrical connection, and test. Once good, put everything back together!

Dealer wanted 1000 to do the job. Took a bit of time but worth it if you're handy. Lots of YouTube videos about changing it. Installed on a 2015 Ford F150 Lariat.

It changes the temp from hot to cold and back to hot.Save yourself the $1000.00 labour bill that Ford will charge you, I didn't have to remove any other items other than this actuator itself. As long as you can stand on your head and chew bubble gum at the same time and have 20 minutes and a Torx T20 driver you should be fine with that install.

Fixed my stuck unresponsive blend door in a ‘15 F150 Dual climate. It was not easy to install at all but that isn’t the sellers problem. With the proper instructions from the forum and a little elbow grease, this motor saved me from paying a dealer to take apart the whole dash, which runs about $1000.
