Thank you amazon for same day shipping. Saved my nipples from freezing and driving with luxury heat! 2002 7.3. Air condition and vents working except when heat is turned on, actuator would not open vent to the heater core. This fixed it.To those installing this, pry it off with a flat screwdriver. Use a 7mm to turn it “counter clockwise” very slowly to position it correctly like the old one you took out. Wiggle it in then snap it on its attachment posts and you are good to go. It’s not important the exact position of the actuator b/c the mounting holes are oblong and allow some wiggle room for installation. Cheers!

There are two different models of this depending if you have auto or manual AC.Dorman 604-203 is for manual AC. (this one)Dorman 604-272 is for auto AC.For whatever reason the amazon listings do not mention this. I ordered by my vehicle make and incorrectly chose 604-203 to begin with. The actuator while fitting properly did not work. At first I thought it was defective. After some research I found 604-272 is the part I needed for my Auto Ac in my 05 F250 lariat. So double check which one you actually need. Manual AC has the 3 knobs, auto has the buttons.

This is my second one in 3 three years. Seems too much lube covered the contact track and caused a failure in the old one also a Dorman. Once cleaned it's still works so really didn't need the new one but it works fine. Now I have a spare..

The heater in my '99 Ford F-350 stopped working over the summer. With cold weather here now, I was missing it quite a bit. :) The AC and the fans still worked fine, so after some research I found that the most likely cause was the air door actuator not opening the heat duct, and it turns out that was the case. There's a good video on Youtube by 1A Auto Parts on how to replace this part quickly and easily. After plugging in the new one the heater immediately started working again.

Ordered it thru the Amazon website after confirming that it was for my vehicle - 2001 Ford Windstar. Basically the van had heat in the rear unit but the front unit only blew cold air. Anytime I tried to turn the front air to the warm setting there was a 'clicking' behind the radio in the dash. I removed the lower middle storage box housing (4 screws on the sides) and the cupholder housing (2 screws underneath and 2 in the front behind the cupholders when pulled out). It was a little hard to get to but undid the 3 screws on the old Actuator, pulled it straight out, then unclipped the electrical hookup. Clipped the electrical hookup to the new Actuator, turned the key on to activate the Actuator, and then lined up the 'D' shaped shaft to install it and tighten the 3 screws. Tested it to make sure it worked ... it did, then reinstalled the cupholders and the lower storage box housing. About an hour in all and so happy to receive it in the promised timeframe and for a better price (around $30) than an auto parts store or if I would have subbed the job out.

I am a small woman who is somewhat handy, but I don't work on my cars. But faced with an $800 bill to fix this, I figured I would give it a shot... I read all the reviews, looked on YouTube and the internet for advice and ordered this part and the radio puller. As others have mentioned, you also need a 7mm socket wrench. Basically you pull out the radio with the tool and unplug the connections. Then take off the panel that holds the knobs for the heat and a/c (4 bolts) and reach in and try to access the actuator. It is a tight squeeze, but small hands helps. I cut myself on the sharp edges of the the panel, and I lost a screw down into the bowels of the panel. Then I put it all back together and it didn't work!!! I was so upset... until I realized I never hooked the wires to the actuator (DOY!). So I had to go back in and hook it up... and then it was Wonderful!! Heat up front and no clicking! Although it took me considerable time and effort, it was really because of my lack of expertise. Knowing now how to do it, it would probably take about 45 minutes total. And it saved me over $700 and the knowledge that I was being ripped off by Ford. THANK YOU everyone for the advice and help which made me have the confidence to try to do this!

The original blend air door and door actuator were broken on my minivan when I bought it 2 years ago. My mechanic was gracious to give me the item names of the broken parts I needed and the cost buying them online was a fraction of the dealer cost. My mechanic said this item with the black housing had metal gears inside which were far better than the plastic gears in the original part on the van. It was a great find and my heat/air is 100% functioning now.

Our 2001 Windstar started clicking away while losing the ability to turn on the heat. A mechanic friend explained that the blend door motor was at fault and that it was an easy fix. I looked up several YouTube videos on how to do it. Search Windstar Blend Door. There were a few over-complicated clips that were of no help. Heatertreater recommended cutting away at the metal support bars! Wrong. All you do is remove the radio. You will need the removal tool from Radio Shack. It costs a couple dollars-see YouTube video. Then remove the four bolts that hold in the radio/heater trim panel. Slip this panel aside. No need to disconnect it. You will see the blend door motor at the back of the firewall. Use a flashlight. Note its position. Remove the motor attachment bolts with a metric socket and long extension. Unplug the wire harness. Note the position of the shaft on the old motor. The new motor shaft has to match this position in order to slip into the door slot. I connected the new motor and used the temperature control slider to adjust the position of the shaft. Note that the motor turns very slowly. Slip the shaft into the slot, bolt in the motor, replace trim, then radio. Your golden! Took about 30 minutes. If you not mechanical and just can't enjoy tight places, dropping bolts, etc then this job is just not for you...unless you have a friend to help you through it. very rewarding to DIY and have heat before winter.
