Bit was good for 2 holes. Broke in half, half way through the 3rd hole. The wood I was drilling through was 2x4 doug fir. There is no excuse for a bit like this breaking. I have had good luck with these bits in the past. Looks like I will be resharpening some of my older bits.

These things absolutely rip through wood, BUT don’t leave a very clean hole. Bought these to use for my birdhouse holes to replace my Irwin paddle bit. They are fairly accurate with the spiral tip but tend to walk if not pressed into the wood. They absolutely tear a hole through wood and doesn’t have a clean finish, which is bad for what I’m using them for. The wood is cedar so could be part of the problem vs pine or other softer woods maybe??
