The variable speed paddle switch helps provide the user control over a no-load speed range of 7500 to 25000 RPM. The lock-on feature allows the user to lock the paddle switch trigger in the ON mode for continuous work flow. This tool is part of the PERFORM & PROTECT™ line with the Kickback Brake feature.

This an incredibly versatile tool. Variable speed allows for buffing and grinding. Long grip handle allows for working the tool in various grips. LED lights in head are a nice touch, adding visability in lower light workplaces

Grinder Ordered on March 31, 2021. Opened for Birthday gift on April 6, 2021. Used three times, and probably a total run time of three minutes. Grinder still runs but notice a crack in the motor housing on both sides of grinder. See photos. Started dealing with Dewalt. First had to ship to their Houston Factory Warranty facility. Recieved conformation that Grinder arrives at Houston facility. Waited a few days and called about status of grinder, they said it will be replaced. Waited another week, heard nothing back so I called again. They said they didn't have anymore DWE4997VS Grinders in stock and offered a model without locking on switch. Told Dewalt to just refund my purchase price. They said it would take up to 5 weeks to get refund (which is ridiculous) . They said they would send email to get process started. Again no email after a few days so I had to call again. Finally got email asking for all the info that I had already provided to them. I sent the requested information back to them in the in email. Waited another few days, called them back to check status, asked did they receive info. Still going to take up to five weeks to go through process. Also being told that they will not pay Shipping or cost of Taxes paid. Shipping was free through Amozon but Taxes were $27.36.As you can see in pictures, this Grinder was in pristine condition, not a scratch on it. To me this is a manufacturing flaw and should have never happened. Now I'm without my Grinder, without my money for up to Five weeks, and will lose $27.36 in Taxes for a defective Grinder.Dewalt should have been bending over backwards to make this right. All my power tools are Dewalt. I've purchased about (6 )4.5" grinders, about 3 Drills, Powered screw drivers, Reciprocating saw and orbital sander, all Dewalt. I will continue to use my Dewalt tools until they break or wear out. I will never buy another New tool from Dewalt. Very disappointed in Dewalt right now. Unbelievable !!
