It’s a Dewalt and has the best quality to value ratio. I checked all kinds out before buying this. I even bought the corded Dewalt first but returned it because it didn’t have the variable speed option. Nice tool!

Best power tool I have purchased in years, and I have a lot of tools. I added an adapter to fit 1/8” shank tools (like Dremel bits) in the collet and created a 1/4” chuck on a 1/4” round shank to allow for use with any drill size up to 1/4”. This isn’t possible on die grinders generally unless they have a variable speed feature like this tool does. And it’s important to remember why this is the case - if you spin some tools like a cutoff wheel, beyond the recommended maximum rpm, they can break apart and throw pieces in every direction at tremendous speeds. Remember that if you decide to buy this. Two things i would deduct the score for it are:1. No shaft lock button for changing bits (possibly a safety design to prevent someone from accidentally jamming the lock rod into a spinning motor shaft).2. The variable speed switch requires a preliminary step of depressing a button to start the motor spinning. Again, a safety design idea I suspect, preventing accidental startup of the motor which could potentially run up to maximum rpm’s so fast that if not intentional, might result in a dangerous bit running wild and not under conscious control. Even a split second of that could cause serious damage or injury. This is not for a novice or for children. It is a very powerful cutting tool that requires firm control and mental focus to use safely, but I can say that I find new uses for it far and away above my expectations. I keep it with me most always, knowing a new use will present itself almost daily, as it has. Two batteries of your choice of voltage plus a charger so I found the price acceptable and after using it for a few weeks hate to think of how many weeks I have spent of wasted time doing things the hard and slow way that this does fast. But then, I can’t be too hard on myself because reliable portable tools and the mandatory variable speed (imo) haven’t been available for too long.

this tool is a great value for money, buy some Kodiak burrs with it. they are more expensive than most, but are by far the best burrs I have ever used, you can remove a lot more material for longer. I bring this set to track days and has got me and fellow racers out of trouble more than once. Paired with a welder you can do some amazing things

This tool is a dream come true for me. I've been a woodcarver for many years, and have always used corded die grinders. After the last unit died, I began searching for a replacement and discovered this DeWalt model. In my opinion, and for my application, this unit is vastly superior to the corded units I have used! My previous units were at times difficult to control, for the power/speed was 'full blast' the second you turn it on. Very loud, too. This DeWalt has more than enough power/speed, and not only comes with 3 speed options...but the trigger is also variable speed! Since purchasing this unit, I've enjoyed carving even more...and I am doing more of it! Thanks, DeWalt, for an awesome product!

Do you love working with your Dremel? Do you ever wish it was 10x more powerful and required you to suit up like a welder to use it? If so, then a die grinder should be in your cart. For most home DIYers, a die grinder will do everything an angle grinder can do plus more. So the choice is clear. Professionals, however, may still want to get both.I took off a star because as a DIYer the first thing you're going to want to do is to toss one of your Dremel bits into this beast and when you do you're going to end up with a sad face because the die grinder only accepts bits with a 1/4" stem and your bits are all 1/8".Listen to me now... die grinders spin extremely fast. Do not use tape or anything else stupid to get your Dremel bits to fit, including "adapters" or "reducers", or you're going to have a bad time (and likely land yourself in the ER). The only correct way to get your die grinder to accept a 1/8" bit is to replace the collet (the part that actually holds the bit). DeWalt makes a 1/8" die grinder collet which DOES NOT fit this model. As far as I can tell, DeWalt does not make a 1/8" collet for this model of die grinder (which is the only one currently available).So... once again our fates and fortunes are in the hands of the Chinese. The listings on Amazon that claim to be replacement 1/8" collets for this die grinder visually appear correct according to the images (should be a conical taper ending in a short cylindrical shape). But when you receive it, you're going to have another sad face because it doesn't fit. The problem is that the metal is too thick for the collet to seat down where it needs to go.So now your task is to remove that metal. Fortunately, the tiny lip on the front end of the collet is just long enough for you to chuck the collet into your drill. Tada, you now own a lathe! Put your drill on high speed and get to grinding. You can use a whetstone or a belt sander such as a Work Sharp knife sharpener or a bench grinder. Just go slow and check your fit often. Also, be careful not to grind down the conical portion. You're only grinding down the cylindrical portion. I accidentally ground part of the conical portion on mine because I wasn't paying close enough attention, so it's easy to do. It's only by the grace of God that my collet still works! So that's it. Once you get the cylindrical portion as thin as the one from the factory, it slides in and Bob's your uncle. I docked a star because this is an absurd amount of hassle for something that really should have been included in the box. I docked another star because this tool seems to be just collecting dust in a forgotten corner of DeWalt's lineup. Every other kind of tool, including angle grinders, have 5+ models to choose from at any time. But this is the only cordless (and compressorless) option as of this writing. So I worry how many other obvious accessories I'm going to find myself reaching for and not finding simply because DeWalt doesn't seem to care about this tool for some reason.

Got this pack on a price cut deal and just saw same two batteries alone for only $50 less. You get the two batteries, charger, tool and a bag. Never owned a die grinder before, but it's like a bigger, badder Dremel type tool, all kinds of applications and trigger works great for various speeds. I like it a lot!

This is the best tool I've purchased since my Dewalt 18v drill over 10 years ago. With a burr head spinning at 20 rpm it removes wood fast. It holds a charge for long periods of time and with the second battery at hand it works all day. It has a 3-speed setting which is very convenient for use with attachments that operate at lower rpm.

This tool won’t clean your plate steel but I’ve used it a number of times for reaming holes and speed selection torque is perfect for those pesky bits to clean out
