Highly playable right out of the box. Consistent quality box to box. I don't think they just changed the name from Rico Select Jazz to D'Addario - they improved the quality.

Great reeds. Very nice tone with an edge to it. Giving you versatility when needing both a bright and a dark sound.

All of the reeds from the box that I bought were playable. My findings were similar with the same brand for my Alto.

Good reed, worked ok on a 7* R&B mouthpiece but would probably opt for a 3m in future as some of the altissimo register was trickier to hit than with my normal reeds.

I have tried almost all the brands, and Rico Jazz Select has the perfect responsiveness for me and my setup. I am still trying both the filed and unfiled versions and haven't decided which I like better, but they both play well, and I keep swithching between them. Great full sound, long lasting. I do use the Rico Reed Vitalizer Humidity Control Pack (73%), which may also be a factor in keeping the reeds playing longer. I can usually play most of the reeds in a box, too.
