These reeds were not suitable for my daughters saxophone. I had to purchase other reeds and I'm too late to return these ones. Obviously my fault.

I enjoy using these reeds. They are easy to play on and sound great. I also appreciate that they are organic; this makes me feel better about the amount of chemicals being ingested. Great reeds!

I discovered these reeds when doing some research on Bonney James. His sound is like a hot knife through butter. The article I read was an interview with him and when asked what reeds he used, he replied that he uses D'Addario Select Jazz across the boards. For Tenor he uses a 2S (2 Soft); for Alto and Soprano, he uses a 1/2. These reeds are the best I have ever used and I shall continue to use them from here on out.

They promote these as nature friendly for not using plastic. However... each reed comes wrapped in plastic. 🤨

To be honest, I don't hear any difference between this and "unfiled" reeds. Maybe my ears are not trained well enough. I do know that these are organic, and that matters since you have the reed in contact with your mouth. I remember my high school band days when I stuck the reed in my mouth for several minutes to moisten them. Little did I know then what kind of chemicals the reeds contained. Knowing that these are organic makes me more comfortable because there are no chemicals. I've been a la voz and Vandoren user for many years. Perhaps these reeds will make me open to new brands.

D'Addario Organic Select Jazz Filed Soprano Saxophone ReedsPresentation:D’Addario is a major reed distributor, and these are packaged and presented as such. The reeds are in individual cardboard sleeves and overall sealed in plastic wrapping.Reed Appearance and Condition:Overall cut, filing and condition of reeds are great, and as to be expected from a major reed distributor.Playability:I normally play a Vandoren Traditional 2.5 on Soprano Sax and the Jazz Select 2M were a little too soft therefore a 2H would have worked better. The reeds didn’t respond as open as I would have liked in the mid-range, but I’ll chalk that up to being too soft. I also auditioned the Select Jazz Reeds in Alto and Tenor and although they were too soft on Soprano, they all had a common characteristic and response. Conclusion:Reeds are very subjective, some require a little work and preparing to bring them to perfection, and then you have some brands that work magical with your sax setup. The Select Jazz are a very capable reed but they don’t work well on Soprano Sax for me.By the way, they worked great on my Tenor Sax although the 3M were a little too soft.

I've been a saxophonist on and off for the past 60 years. The D'Addario Organic Select Jazz filed reeds for soprano sax appear to be an excellent product.I tried several reeds in the bulk package in an attempt to get a better overall sampling of the performance of the reeds. I also used 4 different mouthpieces: Macsax D-Jazz HR (Eric Falcon), Yamaha 4C, Esprit Bari & a Guardala metal clone. Additionally, I tried a variety of ligatures with the mouthpieces while testing the reeds: stock metal, as well as both light & dark rovner models. This reed produces a darker sound -- I suspect in part due to a heavier cut to the reed. There is a measure of resistance while playing these (I selected the 3S size/strength), which can require a bit more air, but the reeds performed well and seem to be easily controlled.I have only one slight disappointment regarding the reeds and that is these do NOT come in individual rigid plastic holders/sleeves; instead, D'Addario has chosen to package the reeds in cardboard sleeves. On the positive side, many experienced sax players will have extra plastic sleeves on hand, which can of course be substituted.I often make slight adjustments to my reeds to bring about improved performance for me, which I anticipate will make these already very good D'Adarrio reeds better. Again, an excellent product. Highly recommended.

Got these for my husband who plays alto, soprano, and baritone sax. He previously used nonorganic reeds, and using these he said he didn't notice any difference in playability or feel between these and the nonorganics. But he estimates that the reed strength is about 0.5 less than Vanduren Blues. Very easy to control.
