Recently had an old pushmatic breaker fail. Anyone with an Pushmatic panel knows even used Pushmatic breakers are pretty expensive. This is an excellent and affordable new replacement for old Pushmatic breakers.

It was far from an exact fit since it had a tab that needed to be cut off otherwise it was impossible to mount in Pushmatic panel.

Phew! Couldn’t believe amazon actually had this. Without it, I would have had to call in an electrician to replace my panel.

Good price, fast shipping and fits the original breaker box well. It's a little different looking but that doesn't seem to affect the overall performance of the breaker.

For those of us who have obsolete Pushmatic electric panels, these breakers are among the few choices for replacement or expansion, short of a costly replacement of the entire panel with a new one. Big box stores and even wholesale electrical supply houses rarely stock Pushmatic breakers anymore. These two-pole models, which double the possible connections at each breaker position, should be direct replacements for the original single-pole breakers, but they must be modified in order to be installed in most panels. The small metal plate (pictured in my photos) must be ground away or removed BEFORE this breaker will fit. Otherwise the metal plate prevents the breaker from being inserted all the way and secured (screwed) to the power buss. Once the modification was done, these breakers worked okay for me. Unlike the original ITE breakers, which had tiny, hard-to-read windows, these expose a red label showing when they're off. They worked for me, but the inconvenience of having to modify them prior to installation cost them a star.

I installed one a month ago and added a second breaker today. The first one appeared to be OK. The second one, when I received it, had a set screw missing off the power terminal. Not a big deal as I simply dremelled a screw to fit, but maybe your average home fixer upper doesn't have those facilities. So I install it and all seems well. But the circuit doesn't work. Although the breaker terminal read 120V, it wasn't passing any current. To trouble shoot, I swapped the first one over, and guess what, that one is intermittent. Wiggle the wire terminal and the power cuts off.So both have to come out. Very disappointed. These are hard to find. I hope my local supply house can order a pair of quality breakers.

My circuit breaker box was made circa 1978, and this breaker did not fit well. Plus, the overall quality was not what I expected. The first one sent to me had a broken pushbutton. It was quickly replaced. However, the quality is not there and the push button is definitely a vulnerable breakage point. I would not recommend it, except under dire emergency and absolute need.
