I see lots of negative reviews about this antenna's functionality, but having used Comet antennas for the last 25+ years (including a B10NMO that's easily 20+ years old and still working perfectly today!), I can only guess that the users with bad experiences have not bothered to check their antenna setup correctly.This antenna, out of its bag, read 2.8:1 swr @ 146mhz, and tuned at 135mhz with a 1.2:1swr. That alone says it needs to be trimmed to bring it up to the ham band!Removed about 1 full inch off the end of the mast, I now have a 1.1:1@146mhz and 1.3:1 at both 144 and 149mhz! I'm using an old MFJ 259b analyzer and an even older dual band swr meter for checking 440 (which is also very good for swr throughout its band).If one cannot get correct swr readings from their installation, they probably have a bad ground at the antenna, bad coax, or something is very wrong with the way they have installed the antenna! My setup is not ideal, as its against and below the cab of my truck and mounted to the aluminum cap of my toneau cover, but with a good ground strap from cap to bed, testing ground at coax end inside the truck, it is electrically grounded and works well enough to hit repeaters quite far away from my qth!For those of you trying to use this antenna for the GMRS/FRS band, you will DEFINITELY have to trim this down to work with the higher frequencies of that band! Get an swr meter/analyzer, make sure your base is grounded to the vehicle, then trim ¼" at a time off the bottom end of the whip and test swr! Remember, low swr on lower frequencies, higher swr on higher frequencies, your antenna is too long. Higher on low frequencies and lower on higher frequencies, antenna is too short.

Ordered wrong antenna for my mount. Reordered the correct one. Return and replacement were fast and easy. Needed replacement because hit a low tree in back country on a small trail and broke the original, an SS680SB. Ordered this one because it was a little cheaper, but wrong base as I said. If it fits, its a great antenna.

Good 2m whip. I get good reports, coming from a previous baofeng, anything is an improvement. Haven't had any negative to say about it, but I don't own an swr meter. Was a gift, the person thought a mobile would be longer then a diamond ht antenna.

This does work but SWR seems rather high on 2m band...a bit over 2:1 on my RigExpert analyzer (see photo). 70cm is better 1.6:1 on my NanoVNA (see photo). Using on a Diamond K412SNMO mount.
