About this item

  • The Gold Is A Wonderfully Expressive And Revealing Loudspeaker, Affording Guitarists An Unprecedented Degree Of Dynamic Control.
  • 12 Inch Electric Guitar Speaker Available In 8 Or 16 Ohms.
  • Output Wattage: 50.0
  • Package Weight: 9.35 Pounds

Building on the platform of the Blue, the Gold is a higher-powered, Alnico-magnet guitar speaker that recreates the unmistakable sonic signature of a 'well played-in' original. Over time, the high frequencies of a Blue soften and become less chalky as the cone becomes more flexible - a much sought after characteristic that the Gold exhibits straight out of the box. Also present in the Gold sound from the outset is an added warmth and complexity in the midrange which, coupled with the classic Alnico qualities of a laid-back attack, rounded low end and brilliant bell-like highs, deliver huge rhythm voicings and saturated vocal lead tones. The Gold is a wonderfully expressive and revealing loudspeaker, affording guitarists an unprecedented degree of dynamic control. It has already become a favourite for many working players worldwide whether picking and bending with Brad Paisley, or rocking hard with Danny Spitz of Anthrax.

Found a used Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III and it was in great shape. Took to a amp repair specialist replaced power tubes, filter caps, set bias, corrected reverb, cleaned tube sockets and made sure all soldered joints were good. Sound was improved but by replacing stock speaker this amp was in a whole new category. I’ll admit I don’t make a living from playing. I’m average at best. My guitar sounds like a studio level recording. The lows were rich, mid and highs were sounding like a bi-amp setup. I’ve read reviews all over the place but not a lot on this speaker. The repair place was impressed and this thing is not even broken in yet and still is “stop and turns heads” type of good.

J'ai boosté mon ampli guitare avec ce hp. Le son est plus puissant qu'avec mon ancien Celestion. L'équilibre grave/medium/aigu est excellent. J'adore.

First of all I’d like to state that this is the best speaker that you can get hands down! Sounds incredible in my Marshall code 50, way better than the cheap stock 40 dollar speaker that came factory with my amp. Get this thing you won’t be disappointed. Celestion is a top of the line brand, if you have a Marshall code 50 and want a better speaker get a celestion gold G12 50 watt 8 ohm speaker it’ll make that amp come alive!!

$250-$300 for a guitar speaker is not cheap. It hasn't even broken in yet and I can hear the difference between the Gold and the Blackshadow C90 Mesa/Boogie uses in the the Fillmore 25 Combo. There is that chimey treble that is very pleasant and smooth, not harsh. Makes a Strat single coil sounds "fuller" IMO. Roll back the tone knob a bit and treble and you're golden. Some people says it's the most "aggressive" of the Cream/Blue/Gold series, but I guess I don't have the Blue or Cream to compare it to. I will be getting the Cream in the very near future...Go for it if you have the funds.

Did not like receiving an open box on a product that should be factory sealed.

I replaced a standard Fender speaker with this Celestion Gold speaker and the difference is amazing. If you are chasing the best tone for your guitar amp this is the one. The best cost more and this is NECESSARY for the ultimate in tone. I have this powered by a 90's Fender Super Champ SE and it is amazing!! Imagine what it could be with a top of the line amp........ Don't waste your money on anything less.

I'm not a scientist so I don't have a clue how a different magnet material can effect the sound of a speaker, but these have the smoothest, most pleasant sounding treble I have ever heard in a guitar speaker. Is it worth the price? Well, that depends on how much you care about your tone. I find the greenbacks to sound almost as good, but with the downside of added harshness in the top-end (while having less top-end at the same time).

Well what can I say about this speaker that has not been said...I know this does not sound sane but I installed the Gold in my Fender Mustang 2 v2 practice amp. I also have the Fender Mustang 1, 3 and 5 v2 and just for kicks I previously installed a Gold 10" in the Mustang 1. I was totally blown away so I "invested" in the 12" version for my Fender Mustang 2. I was again completely blown away at the huge difference in the complexity of the tone. I had changed the stock speaker many times previously and had settled on the Tonker and loved it but it was a tad too aggressive/loud for practice if that describes it. The Gold is just perfect. I think it is the best modeling amp available period. I have auditioned a lot of well known speakers and they all seemed to be really good at something but not all things. The Gold is great at everything I can throw at it from super clean jazz to power metal. I was astonished when I could hear the spring reverb ringing clear on the Mustang as the notes carried and trailed. I would have sworn there was an actual spring tank set in the Mustang. It is very much like investing in a 4K TV. The detail is just freakishly amazing. I HIGHLY recommend the Gold if you want to hear the subtleties of your playing and equipment. The Gold is fairly linear (small upper mid bump in a good way) and has no harshness at all. Bass is all there and not flabby. It does sound great a bedroom volumes as well. My speaker/tone quest is finally over - Hallelujah!! It would have been so much cheaper if I would have started with the Gold. There is a reason this speaker cost so much... it's worth it! I have spent a ton on guitars, pickups amps etc to find the perfect tone and convenience at the best price and it turns out to be the Fender Mustang v2 series with Celestion Gold speakers. DONE! I have the Mustang 3 and 5 for gigs as well. I will be putting the Gold in them as well pronto.
