I have two of these cases. This is the best hard case for the money. The metal latches are much better than other's plastic latches. While being solidly built it's lighter than other cases. I'm not a fan of the pick foam, it tends to break loose where I don't want it removed. However there are two layers of the foam which allows for better scope fitting. I use super glue to reattach foam that comes off inadvertently.

The product is sturdy and meets TSA requirements. The locking mechanism should include TSA locks. As offered you need to buy them separately which requires you to guess at the size of lock and cable needed to secure the case. It took me two tries before I found a lock which did not allow the case to to be pried open enough to slide a hand inside the case. Which is against TSA guidelines.

I already have Pelican Vault cases for some of my guns, but I was looking for a less expensive alternative. I'm very happy with my purchase of two different Cedar Mill Firearms cases. In a quick comparison to the Vault line of cases, I would say these are perhaps not quite as rigid as the Pelican cases, but does that translate into diminished toughness? Maybe, perhaps ever so slightly, but any marginal trade off in toughness is worth it thanks to the price difference.First impressions: Overall the case is tough for sure. The iron locking clasps are very sturdy, and while not childproof, they do add a measure of safety to the case. It's beefy and substantial in weight, although not unwieldy. The foam is the standard quality pick-n-pluck and eggcrate style foam. The foam consists of two layers of pick-n-pluck, a very thin layer of foam on the very bottom, and the eggcrate lid liner. Take your time and have a razor knife handy for trimming, and it will turn out great. I had to cut the foam included with my Vaults, and I'd say that was no more difficult than the pick-n-pluck. I'm using this case for an AR-15 with 16" barrel and MBUS flip up sights. The AR fits snug, but nice as you can see from the photo. I have plenty of room to add a co-witness optic and three more 30 round mags. The only real con I see is the phillips head screws used to attach the cam-latches to the case. Locks won't matter when all you need is a screwdriver. I'll be replacing them with some type of "Tamper Pruf" anti theft screw and a lil dab of loctite. If it voids the warranty, so be it.Also worth noting, the Masterlock set that was recommended as often purchased with this item... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Y8D3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ... the one I purchased two sets of... well, they don't fit. The shank will pass through the holes, they just aren't long enough to secure the lock closed. Consider getting locks that have at least a 2" shackle, or even an adjustable shackle like I'm gonna do. I'm picking up four Brinks adjustable shackle locks and will cut off any excess shackle that's in the way.https://www.amazon.com/Keeper-172-40061-Laminated-Padlock-Adjustable/dp/B00FQ57JA8/ref=sr_1_24?crid=35SGNGK6TQXWL&dchild=1&keywords=long+shank+padlock&qid=1599836760&s=hi&sprefix=long+shank+pad%2Ctools%2C161&sr=1-24

I ordered this case for a spur of the moment hunting trip. I needed a hard locking case for my rifle since I normally use soft cases. I found this one at Bass Pro and they wanted $210 for it so I passed. It's a nice locking case with good cut to fit padding, I like how the locks sinch down the lid to secure the rifle. It's extremely durable but a little heavy but not too bad. It would have been perfect IF Amazon could have delivered it in time. I ordered the case on the 17th with a guaranteed delivery date of the 22nd which was perfect because my trip was the 24th. Well I get a notification just before 8pm that it has "shipped." Well Saturday morning on the 22nd it's still sitting in CA waiting to be transferred to UPS. I got ahold of customer service later that day explaining the situation. Elizabeth told me that they had to get it out of another distribution center and now they guaranteed delivery the 25th. I told her that wouldn't work and asked her to put a redirect scan on it since I will be out of town by then. She told me she couldn't do that. She then messaged me after I exited the chat asking if I would be around to refuse delivery after explaining I wouldn't be home then, clearly not paying attention to what I had said. UPS didn't get my actual package for m them until late Monday the 24th. They didn't make the second guranteed delivery date either. So my package sat on my door step for two days, thankfully no one swiped it in the mean time. Long story short next time if I need something a local small business can get me, I'll pay more to get it from them because you don't know when you'll get it from Amazon. The only plus side is I got my case for $97.99 out of pocket.

This is a fantastic case - very sturdy while still lightweight, and it protected my rifle extremely well during air travel and abuse throughout hunting trip in adverse conditions. One thing to be aware of though if you plan on flying with this case... the lock points are separate from the latches, such that the latches are able to be opened with locks on the case. If your locks aren't tight enough the case can be opened based on how much slack you have in the locking bar/cable. If the case opens enough for a hand to barely slide through, airlines will reject the case. I found this out the hard way after using some nice TSA cable locks that fit pretty well... and having no issues checking the case on my outbound flight... but then on my return flight the other airport wouldn't take the case. Luckily we were able to find some washers/nuts (thanks to a helpful airport maintenance worker!) to help fill the slack in the cable enough to allow for it to be checked. I am now on a mission to find a TSA approved lock that fits this case well enough to prevent the case from being opened.Overall though this is a great case and I would highly recommend it for protecting your rifle during travel.
