Scratch the word "beginner" in the description of this set.Understand this- EIGHT PENS- EIGHT CONVERTERS-SIXTY CARTRIDGES!!!It would be a rare find to obtain just one quality pen for this price, let alone the convertors and the ink cartridges- what a dream!I'm not an expert, but my son owns a lamy and paid a ton for it, let alone the added converter for it- he was quite impressed with this set.The feel is quality and the various nibs will allow formal writing like wedding invitations to the fun retirement party invites. If you use good-quality paper, there is absolutely no bleed-through!If you need a unique gift for anyone who enjoys the feel of ink on a page, they will definitely love this set and will assume you paid 10x the price- if that even matters!My only fear is that the ink might dry up - there is a massive amount- huge variety of colors.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- super great gift!Since the purchase of this set, visual instructions on use have been added- a terrific addition.

This is a good kit for beginners. Each of the pens also comes with a piston ink converter too, so you're not limited to the ink cartridges only. With that said, please note that the cartridges are NOT interchangeable. once you "pop" the cartridge open, it is assigned to that pen nib until empty (or you decide to waste the ink.) There is an abundance of cartridges too in this kit, so lots of writing awaits!The nibs are steel and have the limited flexibility expected. I haven't dabbled in calligraphy in such a long time. This kit was the right choice to help me in practicing my skills.

This fountain pen set has several sizes of nibs, from extra fine, to a huge 2.9 for large letters. And even a brush pen! Each pen has its own converter, to draw up your own bottled ink, or there’s 2 big boxes of various cartridges included, with a bunch of ink colors ready to go. I couldn’t believe how many cartridges there are!The outside of the pens has a matte coating, almost rubbery feeling, that is very pleasant. The grip on the pens is triangular, and super comfortable to hold.For fountain pen users, the EF nib is a LAMY style nib, while all the rest are the more common nib and feed style. The quality isn’t the most expensive out there, but is perfect for a beginner, or someone like me, who wanted some additional sizes to tinker with, without breaking the bank!My favorite nib is the 1.1mm, for average sized handwriting, and can really make your plain penmanship much nicer looking, with very little practice.If you’re new to fountain pens, check out ‘gouletpens dot com’. They have tons of videos and how-to instructions, on the use and care of your pens. Get this pen set and get started! 😃👍

This is a great gift, you receive everything you need to get started and the quality is very good. I was very impressed by the amount of accessories and the way it arrived. The packaging is very well done. The pens themselves work well and are as any beginner pen I’ve used.

This is a nice set for someone who wants to get into calligraphy. Be sure to review the page instructions, because these pens work with both ink cartridges and ink converters. You need to swap between the two to use the different types, and they each refill a bit differently, so be sure to review the details. This is where the instructions could use some improvement. For something like this which is aimed at someone beginning in calligraphy, its lacking a bit in the basic knowledge. I recommend getting a book to go along with it, and that should make it a little easier. The set is nice and has quite a few pen cases and colors to allow you to try different techniques out. It's a nice intro set and the packaging makes it a cute gift for someone interested in getting into the hobby.

Thank goodness for a previous reviewer who pointed out that if you will be using the ink cartridges, you have to remove the ink converter (for use with liquid ink/ink wells) for the cartridge to fit in the pen. So if you use cartridges with all your pens you'll have eight empty converters rattling around. THANK YOU previous reviewer. The pen set seems like a nice starter set for someone beginning with calligraphy like myself. The box is sturdy, roomy, and there is quite a fit of ink. So far the pens work well and don't leak. 5 stars for quality for 4 stars for no instructions nor a video.

This pen set is very nice.Comes with pens with different colors and includes cartridges.They do take some pen disassembly and reassemble to use.I was impressed with how many cartridges this actually came with a total of 60.However, on top of it you have an ink converter which enables you to draw ink from an actual ink bottle as well. I had no idea I had to remove the converter out of the pens just to try with the cartridge and I had to go back to the original listing for even some hint on instructions to build each pen and use them properly. They do work after you assemble, wait a bit if you use the cartridges and then it should work. It takes a few tries to get the ink flowing, but it does work. The converter side is just standard dip pen and extracting the ink by rotating the end it does work as well, but again there is no instructions on how to properly build each pen unless you go back to Amazon's listing and that's a bit disappointment if you never had a cartridge/dip pen before.So, it's a good product, but manufacture please include some instructions in your future kits. It would save people frustrations. But, really frustrating with making sure you do stuff right the first time, so the pens aren't broken by user error.Honestly, after reading the instructions on the listing, I did not break any of my pens. But disappointed majorly with the lack of manufacture guidance on these pen builds.
