I had some old VGA monitors lying around that I connected to the Raspberry Pi2 to use as a clock display courtesy of Dakboard. It's mounted on the wall displaying date/time/ weather, calendar and any other relevant information I would like to put on. When the Pi3 came out, I swapped out the 2 and was able to use the same HDMI to VGA adapter but now with the Pi4 switching to Micro HDMI, I needed something else. I didn't want to go with Micro HDMI to HDMI then another HDMI to VGA adapter so instead of that, I found this adapter. It works flawlessly. No need for external power, I bought 3 of them and they all work in various places around the house allowing me to connect the Pi4s to VGA monitors. I especially love the screw connection which ensures a tight connection. Great adapter cable.

This product stop working after a couple of months. The Micro connector is really small so I've experience many other Micro connectors decoupling or breaking. When I notified Cable Matters, they immediately sent me a brand new one at no extra cost. Plus a prepaid return package for the broken connector! Thank you Cable Matters!

Good product. Served my purpose. Beagle bone black screen is now visible on my VGA monitor. The adapter must be powered through USB.

I believe in being concise. I'm a software Engineer and programmer for over 15 years now so having the correct equipment is essential to do my job. I have a Yoga 2 and I travel to different client sites. I was willing to buy another laptop since the micro hdmi to VGA would not work (micro Hdmi to Hdmi did but how many client's will have access for this?To the point this is the "only" cable that has worked for my Yoga 2. No issue with the screen resizing incorrectly (Trust me the cable does affect this). If you are looking to save time and money. This cable works. Thank you.

Almost all of the similar cables sold in the aftermarket seem to have problems of one sort or another with the Microsoft Surface RT tablet. This one seemed to have more positive comments, so I took a chance. Upon arriving, I plugged it in to my external monitor and nothing. I was disappointed. Then I spotted the extension USB cable and actually took the time to read the two-page instructions that came with it. It said to try connecting to a powered USB port if nothing worked without it. I did (actually, I used both a port on my iMac and then later the Surface RT USB port as well). Once I connected that, everything came up perfect! I just tried it at work on a flat screen TV and a NEC projector, and both work perfectly. As long as you can power the cable via USB, this works superb with the Surface RT. I am VERY happy that I didn't have to pay ridiculous amounts for a manufacturer cable. Really great product!

I purchased this to connect my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro to any older projectors that I encounter in my line of work that only support VGA connections. At this time, I have only connected it to one projector, but it performed exactly as expected. There were no problems whatsoever, such as flickering or lost connections. Simply plug and play.I wish that it did not require USB power simply because that adds one more cable to my setup. However, it isn't a deal breaker and I feel that this purchase was well worth the cost.Should I experience any changes in performance, I'll be sure to update my review.Update: I just discovered something you may find important if you end up using this device. It may or may not occur on your computer, but it did on mine. When you plug in the adapter to your HDMI port, it automatically may attempt to send audio out though the HDMI port as well. This adapter does not handle audio, so you won't hear anything from your computer speakers, and potentially you won't hear anything plugged into your headphone jack (as I experienced). To correct this issue, I clicked on the volume icon in the system tray, opened the mixer, and selected a different output device. Presentation crisis diverted!

Bought this to see if it would work with Samsung Ativ 500t. It works like a champ and is half the price of the samsung one. Only issue I had was playing a video when it was connected. I couldn't get sound out of headjack. Seems when you plug this in (being micro hdmi interface to Ativ) the machine tries to send audio through the cable. Well since it is a VGA output, the audio won't work. All you have to do to solve the problem is go to "Sound" under control panel and choose the regular output and not the VGA cable. Once I did that I had sound and video. I will be using this and the Ativ to teach a class this semester. Together these beat the iPad and Galaxy Note 10.1. iPad handwriting is bad compared to Wacom display and Galaxy Note 10.1 needs a power source to display to projector. The Ativ allows you to use Wacom tablet and also doesn't require a power source to display on projector. Finally an class teaching tablet for displaying via projector.

Great item, looks like the photo and works as expected.I bought this to go with my Samsung 900X3C ultrabook, as the native vga adapters are very expensive. This is an active converter, and works perfectly to connect it to a display. When it is plugged into the laptop, but no screen, it defaults to 1080p output, but then quickly switches to the screens actual resolution once plugged in.edit:After using it a couple of times since this review, I have had a couple of issues. It occasionally has an issue with colours, everything becomes very green. Unplugging it from both sides and in again usually solves this. Also it doesnt like every resolution. It had issues with 1680x1050

Ordered this in a pinch for my Samsung 9 series, when I needed to do a presentation and the Samsung dongle was out of stock. It's compact and light and only slightly cheaper than Samsung's.When I initially plug it in, it works. But any time the second display comes back on after going dormant (like if I lock the laptop or it goes to sleep), about 75% of the time the picture comes back somehow wrong. All-green screen with dots; screen unreadably fuzzy; or doesn't come back on at all. Quick unplug/replug of the dongle has always resolved the issue so far. (No such trouble with my using same micro-HDMI port.)Update: Can't say I was surprised when it died for good, of course just before a big presentation with a customer. Fortunately had a colleague's laptop to fall back on. If you rely on this connector, you'd probably better shell out for the instead - as I now have done.
